Title: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: ZeebraX on January 22, 2011, 09:08:06 AM . . . . that isnt even out yet.
I purchased a Black 1100 EVO. My Duc rep told me only one black one was gonna be available for this year from my dealer so I bit the bullet and got it. I think this is such a great monster for a HELLLL of a price with everything Duc is offering with the bike. So excited to get it sometime in April. Anyone else gonna get it? Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: fastwin on January 22, 2011, 09:26:22 AM Congrats!! It's gonna be one hell of a long wait until April. That would keep me up at night just counting off the days! [thumbsup] [moto]

They just might have arrived by the time you get the bike... ;) ;) [coffee] Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: ZeebraX on January 26, 2011, 05:09:37 AM Thats the thing. No one offers anything for this beast yet. No exhausts yet? NOTHING? And I am nottttt getting that overpriced shitty sounding exhaust they call Termignoni. I hate the sound of em.

you buying the bike from Donnie? Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: redxblack on January 26, 2011, 11:44:18 AM The april wait would be much easier if you were snowed in this time of year. Congrats, and good luck with the waiting.
Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: booger on January 26, 2011, 01:22:41 PM You may have to buy Da Toymies to keep your warranty kosher. That's the beauty of having an older bike. No warranty no problem. You can do whatever you want with a bike that's past it's warranty. With that new Monster you're stuck with Termignoni if you wish to correct the lean fueling and preserve your warranty at the same time. Termignoni® - Performance Held For Ransom.
You can always buy the Termi kit, use the freeflow air filter & ECU then dump the cans on some fanboy; there are plenty of them out there whom have drunk the kool-aid and will buy the cans from you at pretty much whatever you ask. I sold mine to a guy who knew full well they didn't fit his bike but he was so brainwashed he bought them anyway at my price! And about ten others lined up behind him. I wish I had more to sell! Easier than selling bottled water in the desert. Then, buy some cans that look & work better but cost less. Make some money on it. But whatever you do, do not remove those ridiculous cartoon stickers they put on their mufflers. Those are key. The fans seem to think they add a couple HP. Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: sbrguy on January 26, 2011, 02:03:18 PM i don't know termi does make some nice exhausts. you may not like the price but i haven't had any issues with the quality of them ever, maybe someothers have but its like anything else you name another brand and i'm sure you will get equally bad an good reviews be they arrow, 2brothers, mivv, etc.
good luck with the new bike and enjoy it. Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: duccarlos on January 26, 2011, 02:07:52 PM I'm hoping I will pick one up later in the year. In red.
Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: Mau on February 06, 2011, 03:08:50 PM Hi Guys, just joined the forum. Not a Ducati owner yet....but seriously considering it.
Got a couple questions for you and hope you can help me make my mind up. I always had Japanese sport bikes, my last one was a CBR 600RR. However that was 10 years ago. After a long wait I am ready to get a motorcycle again and was considering the Honda CBR 1000 RR until I saw a Monster for the first time and I now can't stop looking at pictures of them. Always wanted but never had access to Ducatis since they use to be sooo expensive.....now it seems like the price drop and they are more accessible (at least the Monster). Money is not my greatest concern, there are only $2K difference between the 796 ABS ($10K) and the 1100 EVO ($12K). Which bike should I go for? It seems like the only differences between them are: 1) 10 more HP, 2) New colors (like the red w/ white stripe), 3) Traction Control. Other than those, it all seem to be the same. Or I am wrong? Any way, please help me decide whether or not I should wait until May and buy a 110 EVO or I should just go to the store and get a 796 now. Also, is there any advantages of pre-ordering? And if you already ordered one, how much did you get it for? Thank you for your feedback! Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: IZ on February 06, 2011, 03:13:52 PM Congrats on new bike OP.
Mau..hold out and get the EVO. You'll trade up in the future anyway. Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: Raux on February 06, 2011, 10:13:27 PM 19 more hp, the evo is a full 100, i've seen teh 796 listed as 81, but somtimes 85, not sure what they are saying now
ABS and TC on the evo new exhaust style you'll appreciate a bit more to stay away from the high hot ones torque, the evo will have tons more on the throttle The Evo is the best choice IMO Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: thought on February 07, 2011, 09:09:30 AM dont forget that the evo has a fully adjustable suspension... but you'll also get a high insurance bill with it. basically anything that breaks the 1000cc displacement mark tends to jump up the payments by quite a bit.
Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: Mau on February 07, 2011, 06:50:44 PM More power and torque is always good specially when every other bike offers way more power out there (Japan ones).
Anyone knows if the Traction control is helpful at all? In all my years of riding motorcycles, my back tire never slip...... Or is there something about DTC that I don't know? The Insurance premium is a good point...I was not considering it....I thought the 1000cc threshold only apply to Europe. How much more is it? Seems to me I should wait and get the EVO, but secretly was hoping someone will say get the 796 NOW! ;) Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: ZeebraX on February 08, 2011, 07:40:30 AM don't forget to check out the CAM forum for the locals... rides, gatherings, etc. you buying the bike from Donnie? Uh whos Donnie? I bought at Battleys. The only salesman there are Sam and Brian. And I bought it from Brian. And Ill deff be joining you guys for rides this year. I do not like Coleman Powersports at all. The people there are rude and it seems all they care about is a sale which is BS. But yea I forgot about the whole Warrenty dealio. Dammit. Now I have to get the Termis. But probably just the cans. BTW Mou. Lets not thread jack please. You can start your own thread its ok. No one will hurt you. Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Donnie is the man at DucPond Motorsports in Winchester. IMO, best dealer on the East Coast! Battley is also great. I bought my bike from Sam over there. No offense to Battley, great dudes, but my bike will forever be fixed/tuned/whatever by Donnie and company at DucPond. If anything, it's worth the ride out there just to see the place. Beautiful Italian bikes and the ride through Northern VA isn't too shabby. Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: Mau on February 08, 2011, 09:35:05 AM Yo ZeebraX, was there any advantages of pre-ordering? May seems soo far away...
If so, i would appreciate any advice on negotiating with the dealers to get the best possible deal. Thanks! Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: danaid on February 08, 2011, 11:06:38 AM Can't wait to pics of your bike ZeebraX!

Good luck on trying to get a good deal on a new model year bike, but definitely try to get something like OTD pricing, riding gear, service? Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Seems to me I should wait and get the EVO, but secretly was hoping someone will say get the 796 NOW! ;) the insurance quote was what made me choose my 796 over the 1100 evo... factoring total cost of ownership, it goes up quite a bit. the only thing that was really attracting me to the evo was the traction control... best for you is to check www.progressive.com (http://) and any other online quick quote... progressive gave me my best one and i believe the full quote was around 700-800 for the year on the 796 and 1200 for the 1100? most us insurance companies just base the quote totally on the engine cc's... hence the street triple (675cc triple) which makes about 100ish hp insures for a lot less than the m796 which is about 85ish hp. but in the end, if money isnt an option, then i would go for the evo... what really made it a hard decision for me was that i liked having the option of dtc backing up any boneheaded maneuver i might do. haha oh, and the other difference that you might want to check out before choosing one is the ride height of the bike... the 1100 is the tallest of the monsters right now and if you're on the shorter side, you might not be able to flat foot the bike that easily. you can always help that out with a lower seat etc, but it's something to consider Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Ive heard bad things about DucPond at least on the service side of things. They worked on my M750 right before I bought it and it still isnt running right. But yea Im headed out there to pick up my friends track bike that he needs to get back from them which they screwed up before. So idk about them. Im sure there sales dept is good. Mau- There really wasnt any advantage of getting sooo early. The only thing I did was lock down the Only black EVO that the dealer is getting. And Danald is very right. Theres not a shot in hell your gettin a ducati at a better deal. Yea there are throwing in some discounts to merch and work done and stuff which is cool. But the EVOs price is extremely good as it is. As for insurance Ive been quoted 600 a year for a 2010 M1100 which should be very simular to the EVO if not cheaper with all the safety pack stuff but yea its not that bad and Im only 20 yrs old. That quote is from a local bike insurance company that only is on the east coast called Riders. O and Danald Ill post pics as soon as its out of its crate. I told my salesman I want to be there when it arrives off the truck. Hahaha Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . There are three dealers in the LA area, only one of them is offering $50 on store credit if I pre-order. I will shop around and order mine soon, in red [moto] Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: scooterd145 on February 10, 2011, 10:25:29 AM As far as insurance is concerned, someone may be paying way too much?? I also have full coverage on my new M1100S I bought in December for just under $600 per year and that is through Progressive. I would guess the big variance could be due to less experience/more tickets? I don't know how much cheaper a 796 could be though??

So excited to get it sometime in April. *sigh* You think you have sleepless nights when you're waiting for your bike too arrive, well I actually have mine, a new M1100 2010 with only 75km on the clock, sitting in my garage, fueled, waiting to go and I can't (i.e. shouldn't) ride it until April 24 :-\. My license is kinda on holiday at the moment, hence my predicament. I bought it 3 weeks ago because of a finance deal that was expiring soon. If you ever watched The Right Stuff movie, where Sam Sheppard (as Chuck Yeager) is looking at the Bell X1, i hear the same sound in my head each time I go into my garage. Its the mechanical version of a siren song I tells ya! Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . I bought a 796 and had it delivered in early December, literally the day before our first serious snowfall. I managed to put 6 kilometers on the clock before putting it to bed for the winter. I purchased it because it was a helluva deal (an 'old' model without ABS) and with the knowledge that I wouldn't get to ride it much (if at all) before winter, but it doesn't make the wait any easier. I'm so tempted to go riding, but the melting snow is making the roads messy, and there is a TON of salt. I'd take out my 250 Ninja, but I'd have to move the other bikes around. It was poor planning, but I had already stored the others before the 796 was delivered. The temperature is supposed to be back below freezing by Saturday. :( Ah, well. Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: Raux on February 17, 2011, 12:24:47 PM rode today. air temp was 3 cel. and maybe 50 humid. a bit too cold still
Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: thought on February 17, 2011, 01:19:49 PM 60 degrees F here... just got out of work early, putting on the gear now ;)
Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: Sundog on February 17, 2011, 02:27:43 PM The bugger for me is that although I can't ride my 1100 at the moment, I can't blame the weather like you Northern Hemisphere folk can. It's been in the mid to high-20C's (about 80-90f?) for weeks now in Melbourne, with a bit of warm rain, it being summer here. Perfect riding weather :-[
Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . . Post by: Bishamon on February 17, 2011, 08:42:45 PM By the time I got home from work I could no longer resist. I had to move the 796 to get to the 250 Ninja, but it was worth the hassle!
It hit 12 Celsius today, but it felt a lot warmer. The streets were pretty messy with all of the melting snow, and I had to dodge a few potholes, but it was nice to actually get riding in mid-February. It was fun while it lasted: (http://toddbundy.com/weather_2011_02_17.JPG) Title: Re: Bought A New Monster . . . .
