Post by: koko64 on February 13, 2011, 03:21:42 AM My favourite late model Monster. Really captures the classic feel in a modern package.
Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: xplodee on February 13, 2011, 07:06:37 AM Nice bike! The whole package really works well. question: Are those the stock upper triples, risers, and bars? Powder coated?
Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: orangelion03 on February 13, 2011, 07:38:16 AM Now THAT is one damned fine example of a current generation Monster!!!

Powder coated? thx mate; the triple tree is from CNC Racing in Italy Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: jsd2 on February 13, 2011, 11:17:07 AM That is a great looking motorcycle! Very nice work. Could be the best looking Monster I've seen.

Let me know if you're interested in something particular. Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: junior varsity on February 13, 2011, 06:07:39 PM best new era monster i've seen yet. throw a ram mag swingarm on it next and some monoblocs, and i will drop by shortly to steal it.
Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: Moschy on February 14, 2011, 04:28:19 AM definitely the best 1100 Monster I've seen. Very nice photos , too. What rear suspension is that?
a m is right - get some monoblocks. Ask KTM for the RC8R black ones. Got them on my 696 (will post pictures later) That would make it Best 1100 Ever Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: badgalbetty on February 14, 2011, 04:54:56 AM very well done. It just looks right! [thumbsup]
Good quality pictures too!! [beer] BGB Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: Howley on February 14, 2011, 05:39:08 AM Damn dude. Without a doubt the best new gen monster I've seen.

The new monster has really grown on me. Well done!Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: junior varsity on February 14, 2011, 06:34:35 AM definitely the best 1100 Monster I've seen. Got them on my 696 (will post pictures later) That would make it Best 1100 Ever The reservoir and multi-hole preloadadjuster make me guess Penske. While the "big things" like the exhaust, rearsets, triples, suspension etc really make this bike, I appreciate some of the details. Specifically the painted headlight and ano or however color changed the forks. Which oil cooler is that? And which pipe is that? Looks like the company that makes hyper parts (name escapes me) and sold through Motovation. Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: junior varsity on February 14, 2011, 06:36:36 AM Makes me kinda want to go get an m1100 to fiddle with. A dry clutch one without new fangled abs though. Too much on the plate currently though.

Headlight and forks are anodized. Headlight was a bit of an accident, but by now I like it being anthracite instead of black. Oil cooler is OEM. Actually the next thing I want to change. Exhaust is from SC-project in Italy. Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: junior varsity on February 14, 2011, 10:58:46 AM sweet. oil cooler through me because of the shrouds missing - hard to recognize. (a very tasteful subtraction, as it were)

Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: junior varsity on February 14, 2011, 11:56:43 AM do hc pistons and cams, and correct mapping and call it a day.
Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: kocheroni on February 14, 2011, 12:08:19 PM do hc pistons and cams, and correct mapping and call it a day. easy, I am not that sophisticated. Just got a new mapping last week for the 2-1 [thx to rexxer the ignition verhexer].together with the 41t rear sprocket that changed the bike quite a bit, not to the worse I might add ;D next step is to throw out the ugly airbox and re-adjust the mapping - should squeeze out some more fun Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: junior varsity on February 14, 2011, 12:11:30 PM Are you looking to install velocity stacks with pod filters?
Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: junior varsity on February 14, 2011, 12:12:13 PM I would be interested to see a dyno comparison of the various v-stacks out there. I can quickly think of three:
TPO Beast DucShop WaspWorks I'm certain there are others, but not off the top of my head. Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: kocheroni on February 14, 2011, 12:14:40 PM Are you looking to install velocity stacks with pod filters? that's indeed the idea - currently waiting to see what Allan from TPO will come up withTitle: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: kocheroni on February 15, 2011, 11:11:31 AM So here's mine with black monoblocks sweet! did you change the pumps as well?Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: junior varsity on February 15, 2011, 11:38:05 AM if you have an M1100, you really need not change your pumps unless you are going to something much higher end (billet masters, such as Brembo Racing, Discacciati, ISR, Accossato, etc) - the M1100 has the same radial calipers as the SBKs, and there are numerous options for aftermarket levers because its an OEM part (unlike the high end masters)
on the 696, finding a take off m1100 / hyper / sbk radial master would be a great upgrade and reasonably priced. Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: Moschy on February 15, 2011, 12:12:31 PM I got them for 250 Euros each brand new from a local KTM dealer without brake pads. Took the OEM pads from the 1198. Awesome braking power and nice feel.
And yes I've changed the master cylinders as well. Title: Re: long and endless winter days ... Post by: junior varsity on February 15, 2011, 12:22:52 PM KTM Part No.'s:
LH, no pads: 6901301500130 MSRP: $388.99 USD RH, no pads: 6901301600130 MSRP: $388.99 USD fwiw, i'm not really a fan of the oem pads on the 1098/1198. Try out some relatively inexpensive EBC HH pads and I think you'll find they've got more oomph and they are less grabby. MSRP $37.99 USD / caliper if you bought it all new at MSRP and bolted it up, you'd be looking at $853.96 USD + tax, and a jug of brake fluid for a bleed. Title: Re: long and endless winter days ...
