It's bad enough that I ride my bike to Starbucks, but now I have stooped to a new low.



I downloaded the Ducati Corse app for my phone. I should be beaten.

Duuuuuude! Starbucks? There must be an independent shop in your area that serves up a better shot than that automatic machine a$$water!

Just the other day I bought a Ducati keychain.

I seem to remember saying I'd feel like a tool if I wore a Ducati belt buckle, but I guess a keychain is fine. [roll]

Guy walked into my new office today with a Ducati labled Tumi bag over his shoulder.  I asked him if he rode, and he stared at me blankly.  I pointed to the label on the bag and he said "Oh, that's for the looks".   [roll]

I have managed to dodge the Ducati labeled stuff as of yet.  I'm sure I will pick up something one day though.  I wouldn't mind a t-shirt I guess.  I like the look of some of their stuff actually.  I just don't like being a walking Ducati advertisement or announcing to the world that I ride one.  It's nice to be suttle.

Darkwing, it probably wouldn't have hit me either that the guy with the backpack is just some tool who doesn't ride because I like to talk to fellow enthusiasts.

Ehh, it never bothered me going to Sbux on the bike, or Sbux any other time for that matter.  I think they make pretty good coffee (well, I drink Americanos, but the new Tribute blend isn't awful) and seeing as how my company takes care of their equipment, any time I get a cup I'm basically supporting myself :)  Ducati owners have a bad rep for being pompous douche bags, but make the beast with two backs all the haters for two reasons:

A:  They're really nice bikes.  They're fantastic bikes.  They're a touch different and require measly valve adjustments more often, but overall they're really really nice motorcycles. 
B:  Who gives a shit.

I don't care what people think when I'm off the bike in work clothes and I sure as shit don't care what people think when I'm on the bike, decked out in moto gear, hanging out at a coffee shop (regardless of ownership) enjoying a delicious caffeine fix.

Wearing Ducati gear is no different than all the MX guys with their Fox shirts/hoodies/hats/window stickers. Hell, around here you can't swing a dead cat w/o hitting something with a Fox or Astars logo on it.

I don't know about the folks where I am now, but back home I know for a damned fact a good percentage of people with Fox stickers on their cars/shirts/whatevers don't ride a damn thing.

I bought a Ducati Corse Racing suit that I wear riding and also have a couple of Corse Jackets for riding as well.

I don't feel a bit bad about that !

Bought a Ducati-branded Sony/Ericsson phone off Spidey, who'd brought it back as part of the "swag package" from WDW 2008. Great phone. Did everything I wanted it to and it fit in my pocket, all while silently proclaiming my douche bag status to anyone who could see me talking loudly on it. Much like an actual Ducati, it met its untimely demise with the aid of a Boston cabbie.

I have a "Ducati Monster" branded t-shirt that my sister got me for my birthday a couple of years ago. I have yet to wear it simply because it's a European "XL" size and I, too, am not a make the beast with two backsing skinny Euro shit. Should probably put it up on the "random crap for sale" board.

While on deployment last year, our boat stopped in Dubai. I needed a clean t-shirt that didn't smell like dirty laundry. There HAPPENED to be a Puma shop in the Mall Of Dubai, so I picked up one of these and wore it shamelessly around the sandbox.

I have never seen anything from that artist, but I find that print pretty sweet. I am going to have to try to get one of those.

I would order one size larger than normal, to be safe. The sleeves are pretty snug and I don't have big arms. I'm 5'10"/215 but I'm built like an alcoholic Spongebob, with the holy trinity of a massive gut, tiny T-rex arms and man-tits. If I weighed 185 like I did a year ago, it would probably fit fine, except for the sleeves. They are really make the beast with two backsing skinny.

I several t shirts (all gifts if it helps) and a lovely corse jacket I won in a raffle that doesn't fit but is too cool to get rid of.

although last year I went to a local "squid-a-palozza" fundraiser for a fallen rider and a skinny little man comes in on a 1098s with every inch of him covered in Ducati Corse gear. Later in the evening I asked him what he rode just to make myself laugh.

I have that!  and yes it does run a little small.  My wife bought me the XL and I was like ohhh thanks honey but I wear a large.  Then I put it on and it fit good.  You're right on the skinny arms.  It is a good thin hoodie for days that are not too cold.

As far as buying Ducati gear.  As long as you don't go overboard and OWN a Ducati I don't see a problem with it. 

I have a cool red t-shirt somewhere with the old-school winged Ducati logo.

It fits me much like a ski mask would stretched over my torso.  :P

I'm an espresso snob. No milk, no sugar, straight up espresso. Sbux uses those automatic machines that rarely produce a good shot. A bit over 10 years ago when they used semi-automatics, their shot was tough to beat.

Books don't count. I am a book WHORE so if they count I am a total dork and I don't think I am.

My ex was a store manager and is now a district manager for Starbucks, so I've had my fair share :)  Their shots vary from store to store and can get pretty nasty depending on how well managed they are.  Some stores use different machines than others, but either way they're supposed to time shots 2-3 times a day to make sure they're pulling correctly.  I have a super-auto at home (kind of a cruddy one) and so far Starbucks espresso bean makes the best espresso in my machine.  I have had a few really bad shots though from stores when I'm out on the road.  It all depends.

starbucks is to espresso as carls jr is to burgers.

 its not the worst stuff out there, but if you care enough to look around you can find something really great for the same money. plus last time I checked they do 1 shot in the tall then 2 in the grande and the venti, most indie shops I know do 2,3,3 or 2,3,4.

then again, I was a barista for a few years and live in Portland so my tastes might be more obsessive than most.

I've got a Ducati leather jacket, helmet, and leather pants.  I don't care what people think about it.  I like the way the gear looks, and it's well made dainese leather (the helmet is suomy).  I happen to love damn near anything related to Ducatis, and if that makes me a douchebag, then so be it.  On the other hand, there are many more aspects of my personality that would qualify me for douchebag status... the excessive Ducati gear is just the icing on the cake.   ;D

Oh, I also have a Ducati key chain for the bike key, but that was a spur of the moment purchase while I was at the dealership.  I didn't have any type of keychain for it at the time, and I was going through an absent-minded phase where I kept forgetting to take the key out of the ignition.  The keychain helps with that for some reason. [roll]

I've found just the opposite, but that may be a geographical thing.  The VAST majority of coffee shops around here do 1 in the tall, 2 grande, etc., etc, but Starbucks does 2 tall, 3 grande and 4 venti, that is unless you're in enough in which case they usually make the grande with 4 shots because it's just as easy for their machine to brew.  Most of the espresso around here would just as easily pass as brewed coffee.  Hell, I could probably make just as good a shot with a drip coffee maker as these make the beast with two backss can with a proper pump machine.  The flavor is just as much in the bean as it is in the brew and many roasts are way off.

Okay, I have the fortune to live where there is an outstanding local coffee roaster that's been around for close to 20 years. Each location has a staff of very well trained baristas that know all the nuances of pulling the best shot possible from a big, beautiful Italian machine (second to only Ducati in beauty and function) called a La Marzocco. Alterra Coffee Roasters, how I love thee! They have made me into the purist of espresso snobs! Now Jeeves, bring me my ascot and a double shot! [drink]

that's one of the differences between harley sh*t and ducati sh*t. that, and taste. the ppl who design ducati gear are pretty good at their jobs. its okay to be a d-bag, long as you look good doin' it. that goes for pretty much enything tho.

Douchery: I own several Ducati-logo tees and caps, including an ultra-douchey orange piece my cousin bought me in Bologna that has "Ducati" in un-readable script across the front.

I did un-douche myself a little by gifting the Ducati Mechanica tote the same cousin gave me to Duck-Stew. But, he doesn't mind because he's a true Ducati-slut. I even gave him a "Ducati Parking Only" sign someone else had given me.

Non-Douchery: I love coffee, so I never drink Starbucks. Actually, my fave is from a local roaster here in Albuquerque (Whiting Coffee). I always bring a few pounds back to NY as I shuttle between residences (and Ducs).

I have one, black Ducati tshirt with gold 80's lettering that I got for $5 at a dealer.  For espresso, I fuss with an old La Pavoni Europiccola.  I love the shirt but I feel like a brand whore in some company.  However, the espresso machine makes me feel like a doucher.  Oh well, I only use it in private.  ;D

A fine espresso machine is a necessary part of life. Mine, not real fine, a Gaggia Espresso (newest iteration), cheap,but a pretty decent shot.....okay, I'm an espresso douche, and Ducati douche, and guitar douche, and ski douche, computer douche, hookers and blow douche....damn, I am just a make the beast with two backsing douche!

I have one ducati t-shirt, bought for me as a gift. I cut the sleeves off it and wear it under my riding gear.

I have one ducati leather jacket, I bought for $35 in an insurance auction an insurance agent friend told me about. I can't bring myself to wear it........ maybe this summer.

I have 3 ducati caps, bought as gifts and never worn................can't do it.



for coffee  I have a $35 aeropress.................makes better espresso than anything starbucks will ever serve and better espresso than most $300 home units will ever make.

I'm selling my Ducati so that Ican afford walking around wearing my Ducati jacket. The way I see it now I have to stand next to my bike in the parking lot when going to Starbucks. Now I can stand anywhere and look cool.
