Good to see you back ;D
i commend you howie on your timing and perseverance in holding that picture for a day such as this.... :P
I've been living life, enjoying it, working very hard, moved to a new place, found a great new girlfriend... just kicking ass basically. but been so busy ive limited the grids ive been on.
th big news is, i'm selling the duc to fund another bike purchase (something more tour friendly). and hope to get a streetfighter s (or similar) next year....
i missed you folks! what's new?
are you dating another hot asian chick?
i didn't know you swung that way... :D
Sounds like some good reasons to take a vacay from the board.
Nothing dramatically new going on around here. One of the jokers changed my name from Yuu to Sad panda, so I decied to own it. Chitter chatter about the Diavel etc. Um... you know, the occasional troll, wild theories, tire peeing all the norms.
What sort of tour machine are you looking at?

thanks for splaining... i was like "who the fruitpie is sad panda?!"
It's not a ST machine- rather a cruiser. but an unshitty one :)
I'm getting a victory with the big ol 106 motor. a kingpin 8-ball. putting on dual discs so it can brake all proper. upgrading the boingers so it can handle better. idea is to have something low to the ground for two up that doesnt frighten the lady (a true sport tourer probably would).
yeah, it's slow in the turns (compared to my duc), but i'm getting it with the express intent of a shit ton of miles (a new goal in my riding style) and week-long trips. hard to do on my duc and damn near impossible two-up.
Hey mang!
The 8-ball is a nice machine. Or you could scrounge up a nice used '06-'07 H-D VRSCR and do it right....just sayin'. ;)

yeah - who is that guy? and what sort of freak (besides Slowpoke) gets that many posts that fast!?
Can one raise the rear of the 8-ball a bit? I know that V-star (yammy) *edit* Warrior *edit* can have it's rear jacked up a decent bit and becomes quite the canyon sleeper once done as it's got the same front as the R1. A little tush lift might make the 8-ball a bit more spry feeling
for sure the rear can be lifted- and is one of my first mods! probably going with progressive suspension because i've heard some not great things about works performance. may do cartridge emulators in the forks later if needed. she's gonna be a sleeper ;)
as for the 'Rods... i thought about them, rode them, didn't like them so much. yeah, the non-240 section rear model is nice but for some reason just didn't appeal to me.
the 106 motor throws down some nice power and torque figures from the factory- 97/113. it's plenty quick and has the ergos i was looking for (main issue with the VRSC's for me)
I meant the Star Warrior - left out the Warrior part.
My one short spin on a nightrod involved a lot *scraaaape* *scrape* Not exactly confidence inspiring at 35 mph

gori-lover!
Polaris made a strike out move years ago by naming Mark Blackwell VP of Victory Motorcycles. His expertise in the motorcycle industry was a perfect fit for Victory. It goes much further than him being a factory Husky MX rider years ago... which means a lot to an old fart like me! ;D He really turned the company around, improved the line up and quality control and cut their warranty repairs down to damn near zero. [thumbsup] If I ever had the slightest interest in a big v-twin cruiser bike (for the same reasons you stated) I'd jump at the chance to get a Victory. Take that Harley!! ;)

I'm sure a dwarf is always welcome to the party.
Now, could a ginger wear pasties or is that redundant?

Yep, same here. The 'R (Street Rod) model didn't have the stupid forward controls....or raked-out fork....also had a bespoke taller frame for better cornering, inverted fork, among other things. Too bad so few really understood what they were trying to do. ;)

to answer the various questions (and non) in no particular order-
-the girl is not a ginger, though she has dyed her hair a reddish hue. rrawr. im not sure shes into hot asian chicks though so i guess i wont be getting any action...
- pasties need not apply. if you mean the kind that you wear on your nip-
- i moved in the same municipality, but sold my house (which i wasn't a fan of) and moved into a brand new apartment thats right next to commuter rail, which is incredibly convenient. i'm living with the lass and have done a few projects already, such as building some badass home theater speakers for the commensurate movie experience. all new furniture etc.... basically ive started over and am much happier with my living situation.
- non-question answer: i hated that i didnt ride much last year (it was a shitty year for me) and thats been one of the drivers to get a more tour-friendly machine. i want to do MILES this year, and i dont want to have to choose between spending time with my lady and riding (she cannot legally drive due to an eyesight issue).
what else do yous wanna know?
oh, and does TOB still exist?

It's looks like a ghost town , just some zombies hangin' about.

Welcome back Ash. I've wondered what happened to you. Been a long time. When a member fails to report we never know what happened: 1) They could have gotten married to a partner the demands they sell their bike and start making babies 2) They could have finally checked into rehab. and a 10 step plan. 3) Been abducted by aliens. 4) Given up all material possessions in pursuit of a monastic life. 4) Died. Or worst of all, sold their Ducati and purchased a Harley Ultraclassic and are spending their summers in Sturgis. You just never know what happened. So I'm really glad you have surface once again. BUT
if a cruiser is in the plan why not a Diavel. Are we not loyal to our Brand?
thanks for the welcome back ak! :)
answer to the last question was partially answered already- it's not so much that I'm looking for a cruiser as much as needing a two-up touring machine. the diavel isn't really that.
second answer is, I don't want a 240 section rear tire.
It's the only cruiser with similar handling to a Monster and riding 2 up is actually not bad.
The answer for two up comfort is a tourer or sport tourer or even a new Multisrada that now has a comfy seat, not a cruiser.
for the touring bike check out the VFR, triumph sprint, and the ducati st3.
if you are looking to buy new the vfr and sprint are available. i am pretty sure bmw makes a sport tourer as well. i believe their offering is slightly more comfortable than the sprint though.
kath hated to be on the back of the monster, but really enjoyed the sprint. if you get a top case then you can put a pad on it for her to lean against and it makes it much better. it also means you get to have a sporty bike.
hey look, i posted somethign that wasn't making fun of anyone!

well it's what you get for making the descision without us. :'(
The right way to go about it is to ask for advise and completely ignore it.

Well, of course!! I don't know that I can speak for the forum, but I don't think that anyone here will disagree that you should keep your monster!
