Title: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... Post by: Mugen939 on June 21, 2011, 02:39:11 PM HI guys,
So I'm in the market for a new monster and I have my eye on the EVO. My qustion is should can I get a better then MSRP on it or is there a snowballs chance that will ever happen? I live in Jersey. I was able to get a bit off when I bought my 696 new. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... Post by: Mhanis on June 21, 2011, 02:46:02 PM Brand new bike....I wouldn't hold your breath.
Call all of the nearby dealers and see what they have to say. Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... Post by: Greg on June 21, 2011, 03:26:58 PM Your chances of scoring a deal are pretty slim, but it's always worth while trying. Try playing off the nearest 3 dealers against each other and see how bad they want to sell that bike. If that doesn't work then your best bet might be to wait until the end of the year and see if you can score a deal, sometimes they want to move bikes before year end to lower their inventory for tax purposes.

Post by: danaid on June 21, 2011, 03:43:20 PM I'm in California, but I have tried to haggle down the price on a few new Ducatis with no luck until the next years bikes are sitting on the showroom floor. :-\ Of course always ask, different dealers play by different rules.
Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... Post by: hbliam on June 21, 2011, 04:15:58 PM The most you can usually hope for is to talk them down on freight and set up. Some dealers pad these two charges an absurd amount. As far as talking them down on the bike itself? No real chance with a newly released model.

Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... Post by: Mugen939 on June 21, 2011, 04:57:21 PM So 11995 it is then huh? My local dealer is charging 12495. That kind of gouging is just uncalled for.

Unless he can GET $12,495 for it, then it is the free market at work. Remember..........new model. Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... Post by: Mugen939 on June 21, 2011, 05:24:13 PM I'm pretty sure I can can them down to MSRP on it. This is my fourth bike from them, and they went lower then MSRP for me when they 696 was first introduced. I was just hoping for a little less then MSRP. :P

[laugh] $12495?? Bargain. I'll take 2 8). I'd love to have to put up with that kinda... gouging. Same bike (if you could even find an EVO at all) would cost you double in Australia. New 2010 M1100s are still going for around US$23,000 [bang]. So enjoy. You dont know how good you got it :). Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... But then stopintime could probably tell us that he'd have to pay even more Up There in Norway. So, be glad and enjoy your bargain priced M1100EVO [thumbsup]. Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... Post by: jvax on June 21, 2011, 07:27:48 PM You dont know how good you got it :). Absolutely. I was looking at the 848 EVO. US$ 12,995 in the US. US$ 23,625 in Japan and -9 HP for noise/emission regulations [bang] Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... I personally will no longer buy a bike the year it is released after finding out how much more the dealer will work with you a year or more after. Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... Post by: Mugen939 on June 23, 2011, 05:01:13 PM Well I went out and bought it today. It was a crappy day here in Jersey and I wasn't sure I was going to be able to get it home. Well not dry anyway. Luckily the weather held and I took the bike. I was able to get it at 12200. They worked with me a little bit because of the repeat business. The bike feels great. More power everywhere compared to the 696. And the clutch is a bit stiffer. So far i'm loving it.

Post by: Mugen939 on June 23, 2011, 07:27:07 PM I've already ordered an evotech fender eliminator. I'm going to fiddle with the exhaust a bit tomorrow. And I'm getting a full set of carbon fiber bodywork. That's it for no wtill more stuff comes out. I want pazzo levers but I don't know if they sell them yet for the EVO.
Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... Post by: ungeheuer on June 23, 2011, 07:42:18 PM Congrats on the new ride - love the forged wheels that come with the EVO too [thumbsup]
I'm pretty sure Pazzo levers which fit M1100s will also fit your EVO. I'll search out the part numbers when I get home. Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... Post by: Mugen939 on June 24, 2011, 05:01:02 AM How easy is it to ride compared to the 696? I am thinking of trading my 696 for an Evo. Well from what I can tell it rides almost exactly the same except for the low speed maneuvering. I the the lower seat height on the 696 inspires more confidence in parking lot maneuvers. Conversely, after a very aggresive sprint on some of my twisty favorite roads the EVO never came close to scrapping the pegs where I know the 696 would. Also the suspension seemed to accept mid corner input noticeably better. I would say the fork is most likely the reason, if I wanted to tighten up my line I could do so very easily. Overall I would say that if youre not a complete newbie on a bike, and you can respect the fact that the EVO has enough torque going to the rear wheel to lowside you into oblivion if youre not careful. Then I would have no problem recommending the EVO over the 696. Not to mentiom that the traction control would probably negate that one bad point too. I wouldnt know though since I have only ridden the bike with traction off. Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... Post by: RC Fan on June 24, 2011, 05:06:50 AM OK, thanks! More power would be great, as would the SSS, and better front suspension. I can't test one at this point as my dealership is only bringing in the pre-sold units.

You can just get the red bike and then get the black skins. That crossed my mind but I really like the black bike and I'll eventually goto yellow skins. Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... Post by: joe.f on July 03, 2011, 05:40:36 AM I paid MSRP.... $11,995 .... @ Gold Coast Motorsports in New Hyde Park, NY. I purchased a 2012 red M1100 Evo just recently (06/20/11), and was told that these bikes are coming into the United States very slowly. Because of the current demand for these now, I would be very surprised if you find it for less than the MSRP.
Overall, the bike is badass.... I just went from a 2006 S2R-1000 to this, and it is much nicer.... Good Luck. Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... Post by: lucien on August 07, 2011, 03:45:39 AM I just picked up a test bike today. Question: How to I turn the DTC off? It is on level 4 which prohibits wheelies :-(
I scrolled through with the switch, and found the level, but cant seem to change it no matter how much fiddling I do with the buttons. Thanks in advance. Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... I had a M1000 4 years ago and I've missed it ever since I got rid of it. The Evo makes up for every issue I had with the M1000. It's the best bike I've had by far. I'm going off memory here because I've only screwed around with it once. I think once you get to the DTC settings you have to hold the selector down until the number either changes or flashes. Then you can cycle through the different settings. If anything, it's in the manual :P Title: Re: Buying a new 2012 monster evo.... There is one for DTC on off and one for the DTC level. Hold down for 5 seconds. Then it will let you change your setting. Cycle through 1-4 and when you get the one you want hold down for 5 seconds. Hold up for 5 seconds to exit the menu. |
