Fantast bike.  The new header is growing on me.  Now if something is done with the cans, then it'd almost perfect.  [thumbsup]

Well I went out and bought it today. It was a crappy day here in Jersey and I wasn't sure I was going to be able to get it home. Well not dry anyway. Luckily the weather held and I took the bike. I was able to get it at 12200. They worked with me a little bit because of the repeat business. The bike feels great. More power everywhere compared to the 696. And the clutch is a bit stiffer. So far i'm loving it.

Great purchase!  If only they had the black on red frame a la 796...

Any mod plans?

I've already ordered an evotech fender eliminator. I'm going to fiddle with the exhaust a bit tomorrow. And I'm getting a full set of carbon fiber bodywork. That's it for no wtill more stuff comes out. I want pazzo levers but I don't know if they sell them yet for the EVO.

Congrats on the new ride - love the forged wheels that come with the EVO too  [thumbsup]

I'm pretty sure Pazzo levers which fit M1100s will also fit your EVO.  I'll search out the part numbers when I get home.

How easy is it to ride compared to the 696?  I am thinking of trading my 696 for an Evo.

Well from what I can tell it rides almost exactly the same except for the low speed maneuvering. I the the lower seat height on the 696 inspires more confidence in parking lot maneuvers. Conversely, after a very aggresive sprint on some of my twisty favorite roads the EVO never came close to scrapping the pegs where I know the 696 would. Also the suspension seemed to accept mid corner input noticeably better. I would say the fork is most likely the reason, if I wanted to tighten up my line I could do so very easily.

Overall I would say that if youre not a complete newbie on a bike, and you can respect the fact that the EVO has enough torque going to the rear wheel to lowside you into oblivion if youre not careful. Then I would have no problem recommending the EVO over the 696. Not to mentiom that the traction control would probably negate that one bad point too. I wouldnt know though since I have only ridden the bike with traction off.

OK, thanks!  More power would be great, as would the SSS, and better front suspension.  I can't test one at this point as my dealership is only bringing in the pre-sold units.

You can just get the red bike and then get the black skins.  That crossed my mind but I really like the black bike and I'll eventually goto yellow skins.

Or, you could just go with the Corse skins :)

I paid MSRP.... $11,995 .... @ Gold Coast Motorsports in New Hyde Park, NY.  I purchased a 2012 red M1100 Evo just recently (06/20/11), and was told that these bikes are coming into the United States very slowly.  Because of the current demand for these now, I would be very surprised if you find it for less than the MSRP.

Overall, the bike is badass.... I just went from a 2006 S2R-1000 to this, and it is much nicer....

Good Luck.

I just picked up a test bike today. Question: How to I turn the DTC off? It is on level 4 which prohibits wheelies :-(
I scrolled through with the switch, and found the level, but cant seem to change it no matter how much fiddling I do with the buttons. Thanks in advance.

I love it.  I had a M1000 4 years ago and I've missed it ever since I got rid of it.  The Evo makes up for every issue I had with the M1000.  It's the best bike I've had by far.

I'm going off memory here because I've only screwed around with it once.  I think once you get to the DTC settings you have to hold the selector down until the number either changes or flashes.  Then you can cycle through the different settings.  If anything, it's in the manual  :P
