Title: Missing Magneti Marelli logo on gauges Post by: Betlog on June 25, 2011, 08:03:10 AM Looking at the service manual for my '07 S2R800 I noticed there's a Magneti Marelli logo on the photo. My bike does not have this logo? What gives? I bought the bike used. Is it possible that it could have been swapped out?
Title: Re: Missing Magneti Marelli logo on gauges Post by: Speeddog on June 25, 2011, 08:38:24 AM Post a pic of your gauge faces.
Perhaps the PO swapped 'em out. Title: Re: Missing Magneti Marelli logo on gauges Post by: Uncle Mofo on June 27, 2011, 11:20:19 AM I believed ducati stopped using magneti marelli and went with siemens. I read that somewhere
Title: Re: Missing Magneti Marelli logo on gauges Post by: Betlog on June 27, 2011, 01:14:30 PM Ah ok. Thanks guys. Maybe Ducati tried to save $$$ by not updating the manual then.
Title: Re: Missing Magneti Marelli logo on gauges Post by: dm777 on September 02, 2011, 07:54:06 AM What gives is right... I'm usually on the DucatiMonster.org website, did not know about this one. I was searching in Google, typed "Magneti Marelli Gauges" and was led here... In a nutshell, I believe yours was swapped out. I have a 06' S2R 800 which I bought new with the Magneti Marelli guage. Took it to this local dealer for upgrades after 2,000 miles, bar end mirrors, etc... Why did I return to hear him say, your Tach was idling at 1k, so we exchanged it since it was still under warranty. I was heated... What bike doesn't idle past zero... and an idle problem doesn't mean that tach is broken. And how can I have an idle problem on a brand new bike... To add insult to injury, they did not set my correct miles, the new Tach, which is the one you have now, and every other Monster, started at zero miles... Sooo, your bike could potentially have more miles on it than your Tach says if it was indeed swapped out. As you can see by me still searching this and landing to this site, it still hurts to this day to know I was taken by a so called reputable dealer... I just keep telling myself, the Magneti Marelli Tach was similar anyway, and Ducati has switched, so get over not having that rare logo on your bike...

Title: Re: Missing Magneti Marelli logo on gauges Post by: Triple J on September 02, 2011, 08:45:46 AM The 2007 S2R 800 is listed on Ducati's website as having Marelling F.I. so that isn't the issue. A quick google search suggests some gauges have the logo and some don't.
Who cares...it's just a logo. ??? Title: Re: Missing Magneti Marelli logo on gauges Post by: ducatiz on September 02, 2011, 09:28:31 AM The Siemens EFI is only on the 696 and later bikes.
Title: Re: Missing Magneti Marelli logo on gauges Post by: numbskull on September 02, 2011, 09:58:29 AM My 07 S2R1000 doesn't have the logo on the gauge but it's still Marelli fuel-injected. You have the correct gauges, the service manual just wasn't updated, that's all.

Thanks Triple J. Can you send me a link to the page in Ducati's site? So the actual instrument cluster may not actually be manufactured by Marelli. It's just that Marelli is getting their logo on there because of Ducati using them for fuel injection? Title: Re: Missing Magneti Marelli logo on gauges Post by: dm777 on September 03, 2011, 08:07:33 PM It's more than just a logo, it's a slightly different tach all together... I can't find my picture but if I do, I'll post it. For those that care about their bikes and the parts on them, I think every bit counts... If you don't care, then yeah, I agree, it's just a logo... if that's the case, why not take Ducati off your bike and put Yamaha on it... after all, it's just a logo... right???

FWIW - my '07 S2R 800 has no logo. Title: Re: Missing Magneti Marelli logo on gauges Post by: Triple J on September 06, 2011, 07:10:34 AM [laugh] [laugh]
Title: Re: Missing Magneti Marelli logo on gauges Post by: Christian on September 06, 2011, 12:41:13 PM One of the fun aspects of owning a Ducati is that each one is just a little bit unique. Some don't have the same parts as others - especially in earlier years - and the service manual having the MM logo on the tach is a such a minor thing that I'm not surprised they didn't remove it.

Now at around 6500+ the tach face shakes and the little screw bobbles around in the bottom
