Groupe Park Avenue - Nissan Juke "Trophy" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZY3lnWCTeV0#)
As a motorcyclist, I find Juke ad promoting the deliberate crashing & road rage against motorcyclists more than disgusting. I find the Juke ad counter-productive to the public image of the Nissancompany. Motorcyclists & Nissan fans, please let the company know that you will not support this sort of advertising.
This is non-sense.
https://www.facebook.com/NissanJuke (https://www.facebook.com/NissanJuke)
Tacky on many levels. Besides the obvious bit of violence it implies the masculine figures (moto riders) are predators in the opening piece. Classy, yep all moto riders are predators targeting females in parking lots. Classy nissan.
I ride motos and own an Nissan, and I don't really see the problem. It's done in comic book fashion. You guys are touchy.
Terrible on so many levels.
Lol that's just a crappy ad. I could care less about the 'motorcyclist predator' fetish porn, bikers are the disposable henchmen in plenty of movies :D

You're right, I'm touchy. Lost 2 motorcycle friends in a road rage accident. Promoting road rage is the way to go i guess ... Sorry to bother you.

Well, I don't see how the ad promotes road rage. Like I said, it's done in the hero/villain comic book style. Big deal. I'd agree wth you if the ad actually showed road rage...like a Juke driver running a moto off the road for lane splitting or something.
Sorry to hear about your friends. That truly sucks.
No worries, you're not bothering me at all. You do realize this is a discussion board, right? ;)
I'm with Triple J... nothin in there screamed road rage. Reminded me more of that family guy episode with the fire truck stalking the zebras....
I don't see the problem, other than that hideous vehicle. 'Innovation in design' [puke]
Besides being a lame commercial with a crappy car I don't see anything wrong.
Well... i saw the ad and as a video producer... it was well done.
as a motorcyclist... not only does it present a bad image about motorcyclists it promotes how to 'take them out' as a solution to them being a pest/pedator.
as a comic book fan, it's a classic good vs evil.
but the target market... althought hitting it with the comic book hype... it is also the same market stupid enough to try and do it for real as a joke

the reason i think its bad is because it targets motorcycles.
in movies it targets bad guys that happen to be on motorcycles because motorcycles are badass and henchmen need them to do their deeds.
Unacceptable because those motorcycles are faster and probably have more displacement than the "Juke"... that crap box wouldn't have been able to get close to the bikes in that chase, let alone jump a parking structure...

Looks like BS to me, dont see how this promotes anything bad. There's worse things like say Sons Of Anarchy and nobody pregnant doges about that.
Just another dumb ass comercial thats all.
Holy crap that car is ugly....
I could see how one could find "anti-bike road rage" in there. I don't, personally, but I suppose it could be read that way.
I'm just offended because it's a shit commercial, and lord knows we don't need any more of those. :P

Nissan Puke. I hear they almost named it that. But, it tested poorly.
I posted the video and the following on my facebook yesterday:
This is absolute bullshit. Not only do I find it irrehensible that Nissan is showing one of it's products running into motorcyclists (however 'evil' they try to make the riders seem), but it's also bullshit from a design perspective.
Why doesn't Nissan own the make the beast with two backs up and tell the real story about the design? A DESIGNER (who I know) fought through frustrating and agonizing meetings and spells of blank emptiness trying to find inspiration for unique forms. Included in many proposals was one that represented the form of a Ducati fuel tank/seat. That's how this works. That's what happens in real life, and that's where car designs come from. Oh, I forgot. No company wants to admit that they borrow inspiration all the time... at least not to the public who they are trying to push their products on. "Innovation in Design"... by killing people?
The concept for the ad is fine (Urban Legend) but when I am dodging endless make the beast with two backsing idiots in cars who are oblivious to me on my loud ass bike everytime I ride on the street, I hardly want to see a car company PROMOTING a rivalry and trivializing the dangers of such. And I'll pretend that the Ad didn't begin by making 3 motorcyclists appear to be rapists waiting for their 'prey'...
Nissan, why don't you show the reality of your concept. Instead of being CG graphics, show the dent a motorcycle will make in the 1/4 panel of your Juke. And then show the mangled heap of leathers that used to be a person who was riding that motorcycle when your car hit them. Don't hold back either, go ahead and show all the blood to really drive your point home. Nissan: Shift_your car into the lane of bike riders because they are all rapists.
In conclusion: I don't really like this much.

But, yeah.. The doosche bags out there think since they have a juke, they can go dodge motorcycles..
For those that make a comparison to comics, and movies.. There is a difference. In both those cases, you are not trying to sell anything. The ad however is, which makes a ton of difference when it comes to how the people viewing it perceive..
You're missing the point of the ad-- Did you guys see the ass on that digital chick? [evil]
The ad was a bit stupid, but I've got better stuff to get up in a huff about. Like that f'n pushbike Ducati calls the GP11.1. >:(

The only thing unacceptable about that ad was how bad it was.
A Diavel-shaped center console. That would be a real trophy.
Jeeze guys... it's a comic. The ad is bad quality, design, concept, etc. No Juke could keep up with a bike like that. And those guys had mad skillz! Did you see how they weaved in and out of the columns!!!???

C'mon now! Did you get all upset when Mad Max ran Toecutter into the semi. Thats make the beast with two backsing road rage.
There's a huge difference from movies and comics to advertising and trying to sell someone your product.
How many movies show rape and/or murder in gruesome detail and it fits with the story? When things like that are shown in an appropriate context, it's more acceptable. That doesn't mean it should be used in advertising. Nissan just wants to show benefits of it's product. Those benefits shouldn't be hitting motorcyclists. Sorry, this is still bullshit.
Whatever else you say about it, the ad made no sense.
If this event inspired our mythical road babe to get the moto tank console, what kinda console did she have before? There was no before, this is a new model.
Be that as it may, I hit a deer once in my Nissan Frontier, but I didn't run out and get a set of antlers for my gear shift lever.
To borrow from a hackneye colloquialism, this ad is a epic fail; heck it's such a fail it should be spelled "fale".
Though I must admit, if I were gonna go for a CGI futurama emo chick, that would be the one.

Haha, because I'll assume you're not a complete idiot. But IF YOU WERE (like let's face it, MOST assholes in the world) and Nissan ran an ad with rapist deer and a guy in a Frontier saving the world by running them over, you might have gotten those antlers (or at least not given a shit about the deer/(motorcyclist).
Anyways, it's a dumb ad to begin with. And I can't belive how many people in corporations have to sign off on things and they approved this. Like my friend said:

Nissan is one of the japanese car companies that doesn't also sell bikes
Bikes:
Honda
Suzuki
Kawasaki
Yamaha
No Bikes:
Nissan
Toyota (and subsidiary Daihatsu)
Mazda
Mitsubishi (but they USED TO!)
Isuzu
maybe that's why they had no problem doing that with the bikes...?
As a fan of anvils I am appalled by the way Warner Brothers portrayed their use by the coyote!
As if that pile of crap could keep up with a bike. [laugh]

MR16DDT â€" 1.6-liter Direct Injection Gasoline (DIGâ,,¢) DOHC 16-valve turbocharged 4-cylinder engine
Horsepower â€" 188 hp @ 5,600 rpm
Torque â€" 177 lb-ft @ 2,000 â€" 5,200 rpm
While the little turbocharged 4 banger is neat, it doesn't even crack 200 hp. I don't see why they market this car as being sporty...it's just a small SUV with a "durr hurr" squinty face.
I just don't like ads (whatever they are promoting) that depict bikes or their riders in a bad way. I'm not touchy or sensitive. I have no problem with death, destruction, squirrel catapults, etc. But there was no reason to use bikes in this ad whatsoever. Dear ***********:
Thank you for comments regarding the advertising clip for the Nissan JUKE you recently viewed on 'YouTube'.
The advert you have made reference to in your recent email has been run by Nissan in Canada for the past 12 months as part of a fantasy-inspired promotional campaign.
We at Nissan Canada wish to advise you that the advertising campaign featuring fantasy-inspired digital videos was created exclusively for online audiences, to showcase the unique design and performance of the Nissan Juke, including the motorcycle-inspired design elements of the car.
The clips were purposefully created in a supernatural setting so as not to draw on the reality of reckless driving and its consequences, which Nissan would in no way wish to promote.
Please accept my apologies on behalf of Nissan for any distress that this advertising campaign may have caused you. I can confirm that the advert is being removed by Nissan Canada from its 'YouTube Channel' .
We appreciate you taking time to get in touch with us to share your concerns, and would like to assure you of our commitment to road safety for both drivers of our vehicles, and other road users and that Nissan do not condone or promote carless driving under any circumstances.
Sincerely yours,

My wife is convinced that the NY Yankees are demonic.
As a born and bred son of the South, I'm not sure she's wrong in her thinking. [cheeky]
Dad always called them "Commies".
After all we are Texans.
When you grow up less than 20 miles from Yankee Stadium, it's hard not to be a Yankees fan.
When you sit on your Dad's lap in the right field bleachers and watch them win the World Series, it's hard not to be a Yankees fan.
When you walk down to the dugout and get autographs from Rick Cerone, Greg Nettles, Dave Winfield, and call Billy Martin a Bum, you're definitely a Yankees fan!
True story- I was five or six and my sister is a couple of years older. Standing with my Dad at the exit to the Player's parking lot to watch the team up close as they came and went. My Sister saw Goose Gossage getting into his car. In a blink of an eye, she was under the Police barricade and tearing across the parking lot, waving a ball she got at batting practice, yelling, "Goose! Goose!" My Dad jumps the barricade to chase her, I'm chasing my Dad, the cops are chasing all of us... By the time my Dad and I caught up to my sister, she was standing in front of him holding the ball up in front of her. When the cops got there, Goose glares at them, grumbles something not nice at them, then takes my sister's ball and signs it. He patted her on the head, then got into his Mercedes. The cops escorted us back out to the street.
My first (but not last) Police escort at 5 years old! [laugh]

Maybe that's cause mine wasn't a Turbo.
I bought an 5-speed NA Baja back in 06 as an attempt to slow down and be responsible.
IF I'D BOUGHT THE TURBO, I'd likely still have it.
It was a GREAT little truck, but just too damn slow sometimes.
The fact that Nissan offered me $17k trade-in on a 50k mile car I spent only $23k on 5 years ago was probably a factor. I really kinda bought it on a whim, but I'm enjoying it for now. I'll probably pick up an STI in couple of years, but for now, with a new baby on the way, I won't be driving in anger all that much.

Z's are nice, but don't fit my life anymore (12 y/o daughter and another on the way).
Titan's are monsters, I don't have a need for that.
I'd have considered an Xterra, but I like heated leather when coming off the mountain in winter.
And the wife is probably going to pick up an X3 in a couple of years so at that point I might trade the Juke for an STI...
Anyway, right now the Juke is fitting in just fine - mid-to-high 20's mpg, AWD, enough power and handling that it's still fun, enough room to do things with the family etc.
a full size truck is never a monster, its almost surprisingly useful at all times!

I'm sure it's useful once in a while, but it's been more than 20 years since I've owned one and have managed quite well without lol.
Between the utility trailer my company keeps and, if push came to shove, the F250 Crew Cab Diesel my little bro keeps in his fleet, I've got that covered.
And since I downsized from a 26' Sea Ray Sport Cruiser to a 16' Silverline Bay Boat, I don't need that kinda towing capacity anymore either.
Don't get me wrong, I don't begrudge those that want em, but I don't.
Love my Nissan Frontier.
I've been beating the shit out of it for 196,000 miles and it just keeps going.
The only major thing I've done was replace the valve cover gasket a few hundred miles ago.
It's still on it's original clutch and pretty much everything else.
I should probably upgrade the shocks, but that's about it...

I've been beating the shit out of it for 196,000 miles and it just keeps going.
The only major thing I've done was replace the valve cover gasket a few hundred miles ago.
It's still on it's original clutch and pretty much everything else.
I should probably upgrade the shocks, but that's about it...
:o
196k & original almost everything?!? [thumbsup]
Well, tires get changed when the cords show through.
Oil gets changed when I remember to do it...
I had to get a new key made, because the original got worn out... ;D

My pops has a frontier, I replaced the starter awhile back ans that's been te only thing. Similar mileage.
I had a Frontier. I sold it after 7 1/2 years and about 106,000 miles. I only had to change tires and the battery, once each.
Absolutely horrendous commercial. I, as an adult, know that this commercial will have absolutley no effect on other adults. What worries me, is what someone mentioned earlier in this thread. The target audience for this car is within an age range who are addicted to game consoles and likely games like gta. etc. Its hard enough to just exists on the highways. Now, ive got to consider if im dealing with some kid who is amped up on the "video" and wants to test out how cool and fast his car is while approaching a bike.

FWIW, I don't think this ad is ever going to air in the US. It read that it did in Canada, but the Canadian version of the AMA made so much noise that it was pulled.
