Title: Is Red 696 hard to get?? Post by: jsluvb on June 20, 2008, 10:38:17 AM I am a new member and being an observer on this forum for a while. It's a great site! [thumbsup] (except some hating/entertaining threads against new 696 [evil])
Anyway, I put my deposit down for over 2 weeks ago, the salesman told me it takes about 2 weeks to get a red one. Till today nothing - and still waiting for a red one. The dealer has 1 white and 2 black in stock.... just no red. Sales guy told me they should have more coming in about another 2 weeks. I am at Southern California, any experience when ordering with dealers, what's the average wait time? One more question - does the bike come with the small bikini wind deflector as standard equip or sold as accessory? Dealer says they don't know, because it seems the second shipment does not come with it and i have to buy it.... is he bs or it's true? ??? ??? Thanks. Ride safe! I've a deposit on one in LA... (wonder if it's the same dealer) My bike was supposed to be here last week, haven't seen it yet... they also have a dark and white avail. Title: Re: Is Red 696 hard to get?? Post by: Binary on June 20, 2008, 11:56:56 AM Dealer in NY has more Red the Dark. My dealer mentioned that they receive shipment every 2 weeks.
Title: Re: Is Red 696 hard to get?? Post by: El Matador on June 20, 2008, 12:13:40 PM They're trying to get you to pay for a piece that should be yours with the bike. I would be very wary of using that dealership, they don't seem to be all that trustworthy,,

Title: Re: Is Red 696 hard to get?? Post by: cmorgan47 on June 24, 2008, 10:40:01 AM argh....
just checked the mail, and received a notice that "my loan application has expired and i will need to reapply" indicating that it's now been more than a month since they approved me for the red 696 that will "be in any day now" that i've had a deposit on since feb. on the upside, if the only thing i really have to complain about is that i can't get the specific bike i want in the specific color i want right now, life must be pretty good Title: Re: Is Red 696 hard to get?? Post by: cmorgan47 on June 25, 2008, 09:57:43 AM it got "the call"

Put a down payment on a red 696 in March....still no news... [coffee] I'm looking into asking my dealer for some extra options.....by the time it gets here, I'll be needing snow tires with chains and a heater kit!!! LOL [moto] Ahhhhh....life is good when the only thing left to do is wait...... Title: Re: Is Red 696 hard to get?? Post by: zedsaid on June 25, 2008, 02:42:27 PM I called my dealer again this morning, and again "it should be here in a couple of days"
"ok, well if it actually does come in, don't sell it out from under me, i'm going camping for the next few days, I won't have cell coverage and i want the bike. i'm buying it. Hold it for me, you have my deposit." "i'll make a note of that" seriously, when i come out of the woods, i'd better have voicemail saying "come get your bike" Title: Re: Is Red 696 hard to get?? Rode it home for 30 mins and spent another hour staring at it ;D One thing I noticed... there is a "neutral zone" when switching from gear 5 to 6.... may be I didn't do it hard enough? ??? what's the point of the "list" if they don't ship the bikes on the "list?" i.e., i put a deposit down months ago so they've known they had a red sold. why do they bother shipping all the others before the ones on the dealers' lists? Title: Re: Is Red 696 hard to get?? Positive, firm shift required here.
