Title: AMA DMG 2012 Post by: zooom on December 05, 2011, 04:25:37 AM so it looks like 2 new venues for the series...
http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2011/Dec/1112dmg.htm (http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2011/Dec/1112dmg.htm) and they are going back to Road Atlanta.... M1 Powersports who promoted the Big Kahuna at VIR was a part of that VIR cancellation debacle as I recall right? ( please refresh my memory as I can't recall the details offhand at the moment) the 1st track http://www.homesteadmiamispeedway.com/?homepage=true (http://www.homesteadmiamispeedway.com/?homepage=true) added looks like nothing spectacular in terms of it being yet another NASCAR oval turned inside the oval track... now the 2nd track looks/sounds like a potentially great venue http://www.nolamotor.com/ (http://www.nolamotor.com/) and it'll be interesting to see.... ( please refresh my memory as I can't recall the details offhand at the moment) m1 successfully promoted the "big kahuna" event, first at road atlanta and then at vir. both tracks took successful events that, if i remember correctly, grew in attendance each year under m1's promotion and ran them into the ground themselves. Title: Re: AMA DMG 2012 Post by: swampduc on December 05, 2011, 07:28:56 AM The Nola track is about to open very soon. I'm signed on as a member, and I can wait to get out there. If any of y'all come out for the race, let me know!
Title: Re: AMA DMG 2012 Post by: fastwin on December 05, 2011, 10:17:24 AM Dumb question, but there is a track in the New Orlean's area? Did not know that. Wife is a Cajun Princess. She just told me junior is off from high school during Mardi Gras and they want to go. I see a trip in my future. [thumbsup] [beer]

Supposed to be any day now for members, and then public trackdays start a few weeks later.Let me know if you're in town! Title: Re: AMA DMG 2012 Post by: fastwin on December 06, 2011, 09:03:06 AM Cool!! Where is it? Town, Parrish, etc??? Didn't know or hear about it. Good news for the NOLA area. [thumbsup]
Wife and her brother are Loyola alums, lots of her kin and friends in town, every family trip as a kid they went to New Orleans. We went right after Katrina to help family and friends who lost everything. Still breaks my heart. I can't look at a blue plastic tarp again without thinking of it. :'( But good to hear about the track. [thumbsup] [beer] Title: Re: AMA DMG 2012 Post by: swampduc on December 06, 2011, 03:41:50 PM It's on the west bank, in Avondale. Maybe 5 minutes from the TPC golf course.
Title: Re: AMA DMG 2012 Post by: Steve.In.Atlanta on December 06, 2011, 05:12:14 PM I'll be at Road Atlanta. Holler and we'll meet up.

She has "crazy Uncle Jim" on the west bank. Hell, he called here today and he's still crazy!! [laugh] I don't blame the west bank. He's just crazy... [roll] Maybe I'll check out the track next time we visit. I've seen the aquarium and the quarter enough. But that's not a bad thing. Are you my wife? That's her job. [laugh] [laugh] Obviously no, I missed it. Pretty cool though. As I said, didn't even know that track was happening. Been all wrapped around the axle of the Austin track's drama. |
