« on: December 05, 2011, 04:25:37 AM »

so it looks like 2 new venues for the series...

http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2011/Dec/1112dmg.htm

and they are going back to Road Atlanta....

M1 Powersports who promoted the Big Kahuna at VIR was a part of that VIR cancellation debacle as I recall right? ( please refresh my memory as I can't recall the details offhand at the moment)

the 1st track http://www.homesteadmiamispeedway.com/?homepage=true   added looks like nothing spectacular in terms of it being yet another NASCAR oval turned inside the oval track...

now the 2nd track looks/sounds like a potentially great venue http://www.nolamotor.com/ and it'll be interesting to see....

m1 successfully promoted the "big kahuna" event, first at road atlanta and then at vir.

both tracks took successful events that, if i remember correctly, grew in attendance each year under m1's promotion and ran them into the ground themselves.

The Nola track is about to open very soon. I'm signed on as a member, and I can wait to get out there. If any of y'all come out for the race, let me know!

Dumb question, but there is a track in the New Orlean's area? Did not know that. Wife is a Cajun Princess. She just told me junior is off from high school during Mardi Gras and they want to go. I see a trip in my future. waytogo chug

It's almost open. Supposed to be any day now for members, and then public trackdays start a few weeks later.
Let me know if you're in town!

Cool!! Where is it? Town, Parrish, etc??? Didn't know or hear about it. Good news for the NOLA area. waytogo

Wife and her brother are Loyola alums, lots of her kin and friends in town, every family trip as a kid they went to New Orleans. We went right after Katrina to help family and friends who lost everything. Still breaks my heart. I can't look at a blue plastic tarp again without thinking of it. Cry

But good to hear about the track. waytogo chug

It's on the west bank, in Avondale. Maybe 5 minutes from the TPC golf course.

Maybe I'll check out the track next time we visit. I've seen the aquarium and the quarter enough. But that's not a bad thing. waytogo drink

speaking of AMA/DMG racing in '12...makes me wonder if new installations like this will turn moto events off from being run there

Looks like the NOLA track gets some AMA/DMG road races next year!

It keeps motorcyclists off the track.

Wonder what benefit that curb design is supposed to have?

to deter vehicles from hitting it so much to narrow the racing line?!?!?....I can't imagine the cars with front splitters that are practically on the ground already going to enjoy tearing their shit up much either...
