The 696 one, and the 1100 EVO one, besides the stored map, are they supposed to be cross fitting?
Its a good question. And one I've wondered out loud about here myself in the past. Be interesting to know if there's any hardware differences between different Monster's Siemens ECUs..... and to know if its possible to flash a 696 ECU with 1100 or 796 data [evil].

Yes, the Ducati / Siemens ECU can be flashed with what ever model map you want.
However note that there are two different ECU models. See partnumber on the back but disregard the revision number.
So as long as it is the same type of ECU it can be flashed with whatever map you want.

Thanks for the info.
Not if you ask Desmoworks... A friend emailed them several times regarding reflashing a 696 ecu to work on an 1100 and they always said no.... But they could be wrong
Well, I base my answers on what I can do.

Chris from Rexxer told me that if they are standard ECUs (non ABS) you can do it.

took mine apart identified all the cheap components,All standard for automotive industry.Id like to know ducati's protocol for programming this everpriced unit.I'm close to being able to hack for clearing codes, and maint light but still trying to figure the programming for fuel parameters.Got this ecu back when removed by dealer at install of termi exhaust and DP ecu. They want 300.00 to disable lamdas and flash, what a crock, ill figure it out and end of story.

You're not paying for what they do.....

Be sure to let us know how you go [thumbsup].
I work for a business that build pc boards and the biggest issue is figuring their programming.Ducati is very confidential with this evidently, but as soon as i get this everyone will know.Getting into the processor is not the problem.
The Syneject component speaks a few protocols, but their external interface should be CAN (for L1/2) and ISO-14230 (for L7).
This is likely the thread where more information should go to:

Thats the point I was making earlier, these ECUs are more than the sum of their components.... ;)

Two different ECU models as in:
One type for ABS equipped models and another type for non-ABS?

yes, that is what he was saying
No.
If you have a stock ECU that you want to keep.
Read the partnumber on the back of the ECU.
Find another ECU with the same partnumber (do not matter wich bike model it is) and have it flashed with a custom map of your bike model.
