Has Berger never been sponsored by Effenbert?

Berger, Smrz, and Guintoli are the existing/remaining Effenbert/Liberty Ducati riders...always been...last year Berger had different sponsorship...can't remember which team it was...but I remember that rear wheel breaking on his bike coming onto the main straight at 1 round last year...their 4th rider is the one that is out with spinal cord injuries

I never realized it was two separate teams.

I think it sorta is and sorta isn't...due to the rules saying two riders per team....but I don't think there is a rule to the number of bikes that a sponsor can flagship...so maybe 1 team is specifically Liberty Effenbert and the other is Effenbert Liberty for to get around it all?!?!?!

When I first read the results I missed the Effenbert reference on Berger. [bang]

Reading is fundamental. ;D

Finally Bimmer puts a bike on the top rung in the 1st race!! Then they cluster make the beast with two backsed it in the 2nd race!! [bang] [bang] Bad tactical race error. Egg on face for them [roll]

Just when I think moto2 is the most exciting race series, WSBK pulls out 2 races like this.  Literally action packed from start to finish for both races.

But that last corner in race 2... cant really say it's anything except a race incident, but damn... that's must have been heartbreaking to the bmw team.

Marco make the beast with two backsed up.

Huh?? That was just great racing, with 4 guys fighting on the last corner. I don't see any egg on anyone's face.

Race 1  [bow_down] [bow_down] [bow_down]

Race 2  [bow_down] [bow_down] [bow_down] [bow_down] [bow_down]

That's it.

Just finished watching the 2 races on my DVR. All i can is WOW! I dont know where these 2 races would rank amoung the all time greatest but they are the most exciting i've seen. Just brilliant wire to wire. The last corner was worth a Hollywood script. WSBK is STILL my favorite moto series to watch.

Only down side - Checa got unlucky in race2 (not that he would be able to join the fight) and BMW couldn't repeat another 1-2 finish. They deserve it but some sh*t happens in racing.  If i were the BMW boss, after the battle in race 1, i'd told them to knock that crap off in race 2, at least after a certain lap #.  [bang]

Post by: fastwin on May 14, 2012, 07:47:33 AM
Sorry for Checa but it could have been anyone in the field. Just bad luck.

BUT... race two was one of the all time best WSBK races I have seen in years!!!!!!! Five bikes (four manufacturers!) in a pack that you could cover with a blanket! [popcorn] [bow_down] Constantly dicing it out and after Sykes fell out of the lead (great ride by him by the way!) the lead swapped several times a lap. Then the drama at the end. Rea was a very patient mad dog. He worked his way up to the front and then stuffed everyone out of his way. Just a make the beast with two backsing awesome race!!

Sorry for the Bimmers getting taken out at the end but they put on a hell of a show in both races. You will NEVER see a race like that in MotoGP. Ever... The Stoner show just more boring after watching that race.

Agreed completely. After watching race 1 I was prepared for a bit of a let down for race 2, thinking no way they could top that. I was wrong!  [thumbsup]

He'd be a nuclear addition to the class. Can you just imagine? His bike racing career is long from being over... if he wants. Just picture him on a factory 1199 (if he could stand to be with Ducati any longer! [roll]) or even better on an Aprilla!! [popcorn] [bacon] [bow_down] Cool beans. [thumbsup] [Dolph] One can wish. Watching MotoGP is like sitting in the back row at high school math class. Zzzzzzzzz.  [bang]

Only one way he would end up on the Priller...Max would have to retire or Aprilia would have to throw him under the bus and that ain't gonna happen as much as Rossi and Biaffi on a team together ain't gonna happen. But The Doctor mindmake the beast with two backsing the emperor all over again...make the beast with two backs YEAH!

I'd say if Rossi sticks with ducati for one more bad year and the 1199 does well in wsbk in 2013... pretty high chance of moving to wsbk

Contracts are over at the end of this year. He should jump to WSBK without even a look back. After those races at Donington I swear I'll never ever lose any sleep over missing a MotoGP again.

I say BMW was robbed in Race 2!!  But they have finally made their mark!

Yah, pretty amazing what happens when they finally start listening to their riders vs their engineers... I read a interview with Haslam and he basically said that the main issue with the previous years was that the car traction control guys couldnt get their heads around the fact that motorcycle acted differently with different TC needs.  He said they finally started to listen this year and it seems thats what they needed.

while I think it was a dick move and a racing incident at the same time...the only end result would be to put Rea and Haslam in a boxing ring to settle that one....sucks for the Bimmer Boyz....but was probably the single most exciting race weekend we have had in far too long...

No way was it a dick move.

Haslam should take a poke at Melandri if he feels the need to hit someone.

Rea was just cleaning up after the mess.

+1

Haslam left the door open a bit too much when he knew Rea was right there, then tried to dive in when he saw Meladri was running wide...hitting Rea.  Just a racing incident. Melandri just got unlucky that he was taken out after running wide.

I loved Rea's post-race comment..."I'm sorry that he crashed, but more importantly I got 25 points."  [laugh]

Yeppers. Loved that line. It was just racing. No one did anything "wrong". Just too bad for the 2 Bimmers. But nice to see them up and running with the big dogs after 2-3 years of trying. Again... WSBK rocks!!!

Watched the Moto3 race last night and it was damn good too! Too bad the big boy class racing isn't that good!! >:(

Yep. Also nice to see Kawasaki up there...same with Rea and the Honda. The more manufacturers the merrier...I love 5 bike finishes!  ;D

Now, when is KTM going to jump in? I thought they were supposed to this year.

Yeah, I'd LOVE for KTM to join the fray! [thumbsup] Unlike MotoSleepy, I like the fact that there are so many makes of bikes battling at the front. Having the Orange Crew would just add to that battle. But I also miss the Yammyhammer team. And I wish Suzuki had another bike or two on the grid. [Dolph] [popcorn]

And yes, Sykes and the Kawi are kicking ass!! How does it get any better? ;D

Kept watching that last turn over and over and it looks like Rea wasn't at fault in any way. Looks more like Haslam leaned into him hard, Rea reacted by trying to counter the extra weight a little over-zealously and then Haslam got bumped off line and the rest is history.

Definitely just racing in my book.

And the stuff that Rea made on Biaggi the turn before...CLASSIC!  [clap]

Been watching that footage over & over too. Racing is racing, true that, but I think Rea was showing some of that reckless disregard that was so common from him 2 years ago when he was flat out dangerous on track. That stuff on Biaggi was over the top in my book and a miracle that a crash didn't happen right then & there. Having gotten away with he pulls the same shit on Haslam. I think he was too hot on the inside and used Haslam as a rail. I'll watch it a few more times but that's how I see it now.

It looks like Haslam turned into him not Rea drifting out to Haslam. Just the way i see it. I hate Biaggi so anyone who stuffs him hard is OK in my book. I am just happy to see actual racing versus the Alien parade.

Everyone has to keep in mind that there's the way the Brits race and then there's the way everyone else races ('cept for a coupla notable exceptions).  On British soil, it's their rules.   Besides, Biaggi may be a clean rider, but Marco's a f'n maniac.  Rea's got nuthin' on him.

Dunno if even Biaggi felt that way about the pass Rea made on him.

He went right to Rea and shook his hand at the end of the race as they were circulating on the cool down lap.

Melandri precipitated the whole incident by his attempt.

He went wide and Haslam got dragged out with him. Rea had the room.

Haslam left a small gap, maybe due to Melandri's desperate move, and Rea went for it. I think pretty much any other racer at that level would have done the exact same thing.

+2 I'm still wondering WTF was Melandri thinking. He just threw it away. If Melandri was not out there Haslam might have been able to save it for at least 4th. That's if Melandri's make the beast with two backs up didn't mess him up into giving Rea a gap.

If Melandri had accepted 2nd...

Haslam wins...

Rea 3rd.

Maybe they should change the "Repsol: Spanish for teammate" to "BMW: Italian for teammate".
