To draw this out of the previous thread so anyone not paying attention to 'old' news but still has interest in a track day can see.
It appears that August 18,19,20 is the next time a number of the gang plan to pile in for a Roger Lyle day(s)
The 18th and 19th are the Shenandoah course and the 20th is Main.
As or right now I've heard solid interest from:
Me - 18th and 19th
Frank - 18th and 19th
Jim - 18th, 19th and 20th
JoeP - 18th or 19th
Brett - 18th and 19th
Pepe w/ Bianca - 18th or 19th
Maybe:
Randy - 20th, depending on hands
No:
Ananta - spending his bux at Cornerspeed and aint nothing wrong there.
Brian - depending on if he has a bike that functions ;D
Obviously haven't spoken directly to everyone. So if you're interested pipe up. Aside from one issue, the first go went quite well and is a good time.
if you register, when you get to the 'Any notes you'd like to add:' field please note CAM/BAD and we *might* be able to get a small discount if enough people come.
I'm in for one of the Shenny dates. Not sure which one yet.
Count me in as a maybe, I'll give a confirmation once I'm back.
Brian - I've got an old GS500 you can use for the track day. All you have to do is jet it and put back together!
Since i'm going to cornerspeed at VIR . I wont be able to do this one.
bump.... anyone else interested?
I am up for Summit Main...yes that all depends on how much mobility I have with my hands
Brett is planing to pop his cherry
Aight. I am in. Ordered leathers and gauntlets today. Anyone interested in going on 7/29 to Shenny?
Brett - I'm interested but don't think it's going to be realistic for me. Btw - the Shenandoah course is awesome!
I'm just about to pull the trigger on this trailer: trinity MT3. It's a three rail- open trailer.
Any input - positive or negative?

personally, I'd want 15" wheels for more common load rated trailer tire fitments...some of the smaller tires are becoming harder and sparcer to find...I know the 13's help give it a lower loading height, but still...I also wonder what the tongue weight on that thing is when loaded given how far back the axle is in relation to the bikes when loaded.

My ball is on the bumper at 22.5" and is rated at 500lb tongue weight. I almost want it loading that ball down to even out the truck/trailer. But that may just be novice silly talk. The tires are a concern but I don't know much about this stuff. Doesn't the Kendon have the same tire sizes?

yes...it is silly talk...loading down the tongue lightens your steering and can make for a sketchy feel when going at highway speeds in how the vehicle tracks overall....

Any u-haul shop will do it.
For your truck - probably just the drive way. Did mine a couple weeks back. 4 bolts and a cinder block was all that was needed. Not sure about your electrics though. I got lucky and the kia was 'tow prepped' and had plug-in wiring.
Though all the Kia hitches rated a 3 of 10 for install difficultly. Some of the F series seem to rate from 4 all the way to 7. Granted the 7 is a class V rated for 12,000 pounds of towing.
I got mine from http://www.etrailer.com/ (http://www.etrailer.com/) and they give a 1 to 10 difficulty rating and estimated install time for each hitch. Also they have quite a number of install demo videos.

I am pretty sure the previous owner did a lot of towing, but I still need to check on the wiring.
With regards to the hitch... yeah... checked and there is frame drilling required. I'm ok spending $300 bucks to get it done.
U-haul seems dubious... reported experiences online do not appear good.
Yeah - I dunno if I'd let the U-haul crew on columbia pike do that work. Perhaps one farther out where it's not so crazy... but they are overworked on a good day.

I find that when I bring a beacon somebody already has one there, and when I don't there isn't one! :)
I had the MyChron Light TG in the past and it comes with a beacon. I really liked that timer - very easy to read. Right now I'm just borrowing a friends older MyChron but it's fine (if a little basic)

Those things must be smelling rotten now!!!!!!
I have Pridmore STAR school on the 22nd at VIR..funds are tight in August and the 20th will be my debut back to the track. Gonna use as much time as possible to get my strength and mobility back in my hands.
The numbers are coming off the Aprilia and it is going back to street duty only. Still waiting on parts from Aprilia and Paggio. I may bring the new track ho out for some pre teardown testing too.
Hey all (especially Pepe). I am not going to shenny on 7/29 but still in for 18/19th.
I AM going to the dulles gun show on the 28th or 29th. anyone else going or want to? (also this was planned after a livingsocial trip to the range and BEFORE the batman premiere, so don't give me any sh*&)
So what's the tally?
I'm in for 18 and 19... need to discuss with Ian about the 20th but i don't think it will work.
I'm planning to go on the 18th. Can me and my bike get a ride there with someone? I can ride back on my own (if my bike is in one piece) since I'm not planning to track on the 19th and 20th.

Confirmed so far:
Ian = 18 + 19 - frank wants to know what it would take to stay for the 20th
Frank = 18 + 19 - addicted, can he arrange the 20th?
Joe P = 18 - needs a ride there, anyone?
Brett = 18 + 19 - its his first time... Addiction to follow?
Unconfirmed:
Jim - coming but doesn't know dates, expressed interest in 20
Pepe w/ Bianca - showed interest in 18th and 19th
Brian - sadly bike less - no interest in reassembling Frank's 91 gs500 lol
Randy - still a maybe for 20, recovering but addicted to the track ;)
Did I miss anyone or mistakenly match your bike with your real name?
I'm personally waiting to register to talk with Ian about the 20th since we are commuting together and it's his buddies trailer.

What's the cost for an electric box? Figure we can get one and share off it for fan(s) phones etc.
Some good info here:

Lame... Guess you have to call.
Any veterans that have the knowledge?
Though that one site is rather dated, it appears its $20 (net) for an electric hook up. Not bad.
So - now for our little commune. I can get my hands on a 10x10 slant leg ez up (64 sq feet of shade). 2 or 3 camp chairs, a box fan, extension cord and outlet splitter and medium rolly cooler.
Anyone else have a sun shelter they can bring?
I don't have travel cooking gear - anyone? Or are we planning on cold food - sammiches etc?
Presently Im planning to camp out.
I will know this week if I can get 1 or 2 10x10 straight leg shelters.
I however don't have a tent to camp with yet... Was going to use the truck before the hitch install problem.
I've got a cooler, truck (w/ hitch, power outlet, and DVD player), and a tent (maybe 2).
I might rent a u-haul trailer, unless someone has room on a trailer for my bike.
EDIT: I also have a little propane grill.
I have a 12x12 ez-up and most likely can get another 10x10. Prob the more the merrier.
What is the eating situation again? Can we come and go during the evening without issue - like to go off site for dinner? Cooking gear? I have none.
Morning Starbucks? [evil]

If I remember correctly (and that's a stretch) they close the gates past a certain hour at night and then re-open them early in the morning. Most people bring their own food/booze/whatever, but they also serve some food at the track (at least for lunch).
As for the trailers, I'm interested in sharing one. I don't have a hitch on my car, but if someone can tow, I'll pay for the gas.
I'd expect they would lock the gates after a point. Can't think they would want open access at off hours.
So right now it looks like we will have 2-3 canopies of various size.
A Grill - yay Brett! So we can have hot food. OF course supply your own.
Frank and I are rolling together - Frank we *might* be renting a trailer. The enclosed has a wiring issue that I hope to fix.

yeah... considering one can hear bikes on race days at the Sammich shop about a mile off... I'll go with no.
And considering the amount of gun fire going on last time, I don't think anyone can point fingers at the bikes for being too loud.
(Slightly) bigger rear sprocket arrived today - woot. Hopefully a little more punch will get me out of the corners faster to fend off them cheater bikes. Never topped it out in 6th last time, so obviously that top end is wasted on *me*
Bret/Jim - what are your arrival plans?
Looks like Ian and myself will be arriving Friday evening something like 6-7pm. We're gonna make a big fort with all of our tents and ez-ups!
Planning to set up in the same spot as last time, Randys preferred location at the Skid Pad. Brett - when you arrive come over the bridge and look to the right you should see 'the camp'. Silver Infinity towing a small white enclosed trailer - if Jim's there his wheels are a gold-ish Acura sedan

I won't be arriving until sometime on Saturday. Have to grade finals and submit grades before I head that way... If it's not too packed, it'd be great to save me a spot...
I am picking up a trailer Thursday. Roll out sometime Friday afternoon/evening. @Frank/Ian: We could convoy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuyLTDAC7fE) if i can get out of work in time to leave whenever you are. @Ian: txt me with details.

You guys missed out on a little rain after dinner yesterday, softer ground last night, a 3am owl, but best of all...a beautiful day at the track.

Don't hold back, Jim. Now how do you really feel?
;)
Yeah, it was really that good. I pretty much had my own personal coach (Thanks, Dina!!!) in the afternoon, so got lots of time working on individual corners. Running balls out in turn 3 and 4 is more fun than I ought to be allowed to have. And 140+ mph with no possibility of a ticket/jail...hell yeah!
Still crunching stuff. Lost sound after doing some color adjustment... making a slow process even slower. But, here's an un adjusted one

- Jim, 10:10 will show you that point-shoot-point I was taking for the Range Esses that messed you up when you were behind and ate up the lead you had on the straight before the hook
Got the 2nd one done

Good to hear it was a great day. Sat was perfect for us early arrivers so it's good you guys got in some open time.
I do wonder about main - but the KTM is in 6th and headed for the Rev limit by the end of the straight on Shenny.

But I am the one who got yelled at for passing in turns.
We all know guys in icon gear on blacked out sport bikes are villans...
3 of 4 or maybe 4 of 5 passes were all before the turn.... That's one of the sessions I forgot to run my camera.

Randy?
Any news from Frank? He gonna have that superglued back together for labor day at Shenny?
I'm helping him get it to a shop for fix up cost list on sat.
Both cans have some damage. Tail and left tank cover plastics. Throttle tube housing, brake res mount, rear sets, foot levers, side stand, front brake lever, bar ends, bars, belly pan clutch cover...
None of its terrible and the critical bits seem fine - it just need some TLC. But I don't think Labor day on the Monster is in the cards... though now me... I might need some mroe track smack

when did Summit become Vegas?....I know it is close to Charlestown and all....BUT STILL...unless you are just ashamed to admit you like the toothless pregnant strippers from the Cheetah or something like that?!?!?!
A small bit of bad news from me... Bike appears totalled. The frame is very nicely bent. I was going to post pictures but it made me get teary eyed. Estimate to fix came in at $15k+.
The good news is that I'm ok... mostly just injured pride. My gear did an amazing job! Go Rev'it!
So good solid learning lesson(s) for the weekend. Expensive... but good. In the end really just can't wait to get back out there! [evil]

Ouch! Sorry to hear this, but glad you're OK! There's a 750SS and a 800SS in the WERA classifieds that should be fun to ride and are a bit cheaper to wad up. Of course you could always frankenbike it since you've got a good engine.

I'm definitely gonna ask the salvage value... so a very small chance that it will be worth it to buy it back.

Definitely in the running... i am still waiting payoff and salvage cost to buy it back. It may be worth resurecting.

personally....unless you have alot invested in it in terms of accessories and mods you are going to salvage out of it...I wouldn't as you'll probably end up finding a whole lot of other things wrong with it as you rebuild and spend a whole lot more money to make it all right and be chasing gramlins of all sorts for a period of time to come...but I guess that is just me...
Hmm.... M900-1100 S...
Lil glamour shot. Not as nice as Randys though

Bummer. But insurance will cover, no?
If the engine is good and you don't mind the hassle the buy-back may be cheaper than expected. It was in my case on a 916 I had.
Is the frame tweaked in a way that affects the handling?

yeah, the alignment at the head is bit off - rotated a degree or two clockwise if you're looking at the bike head on

Could make for a fun winter project! [evil]
Ok all... just heard from the insurance company and here's the deal:
Payoff = $10.2k
Loan outstanding = $8k
Salvage cost (not yet official) = $1.5-2k
keep in mind a new frame is 1500 for just the part and I was not successfull in finding an immediately available frame on ebay (worth buying).
Input? Should I just start over or spend the $$ to resurect?
Start over. Factor in the cost (time and money) of swapping motor, etc. vs getting a new bike soon before the year is out (plus maybe catch some end of year sales?)
But that doesn't mean you shouldn't buy the bike. If you feel like breaking it up you can easily recoup you 2K - but once again this may be a hassle you don't want (dealing with answering emails, shipping, etc)
Or you can just park it until a good frame comes along and make a track bike while you ride your new (to you)street bike.
Does the M1100S have aftermarket bits on it?
Any Q: if you were to buy another bike would it be a Monster?

I'm in strong agreement with you on this... The aftermarket bits were only to the tune of $300. I'm leaning to the cash.
With regards to owning another monster... HELLS YA I WOULD! I really fell in love with this bike. I however, don't think it will be my track bike again ;). I would use it as my daily commuter and the typical weekend day ride (which this bike was). I was already looking for a track weapon so this just sparks the process of change.
And you can get bank loans for private sales used bikes - no saying you have to buy a brand spanking new one from a dealer.
I wonder how much a 2011 Streetfighter goes for? [evil]
I told him he should get something classy, something with a 900 in it.
