Title: Re: 899 Panigale... Post by: rz3r0 on September 09, 2013, 11:35:27 PM Just under $17k out the door at SSC... Considering one along the line ;)

Except the SSS! :'( Which is so aesthetically pleasing Title: Re: 899 Panigale... Post by: sta on September 10, 2013, 07:34:55 PM ... Post by: MadDuck on September 10, 2013, 10:44:10 PM Existing 848 owners may be somewhat disappointed by these numbers; the 899 is only 8bhp up on the 848 Evo, develops identical torque and weighs slightly more, while carrying a $1,000 premium.
So this is an improvement? It'll be interesting to see the comparisons. Hope they did the stock suspension better but don't hold your breath. Title: Re: 899 Panigale... Post by: Speed 3 Pilot on September 11, 2013, 08:47:31 AM So this is an improvement? Isn't newer always better?... ;) Title: Re: 899 Panigale... Post by: 118811 on September 11, 2013, 09:57:18 AM Gotta love that exhaust too.....worth a grand!?
It is a beautiful bike [thumbsup] Title: Re: 899 Panigale... Post by: MadDuck on September 11, 2013, 11:02:02 PM Isn't newer always better?... ;) The 749 was leaps and bounds better than the 748 except for certain rare electrical problems ( and those were an improvement over the 748 anyway ) and then there are the perennial aesthetics arguments. No doubt that the 848 was a vast improvement over the 749 and even an arguable improvement over the 999. In this case the differentiation might not be so marked. Possibly better looking but manners wise has yet to be determined. I sure hope the stock suspension works good right out of the box otherwise it might be hard to justify it. It'll be easier to handle than the 1199 power wise but that's not the only consideration. Title: Re: 899 Panigale... Post by: MadDuck on December 15, 2013, 11:37:47 AM It's starting to grow on me........ [Dolph]
The two write ups in Motorcyclist and Sport Rider make it sound tempting. Then there is this........... Ducati Panigale 899 fights Suzuki and Triumph | Group Test | Motorcyclenews.com (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQza_TWj8JM#) Oh boy! Title: Re: 899 Panigale... The 899 Pani sounds the best also... [thumbsup] Title: Re: 899 Panigale... Post by: MadDuck on January 12, 2014, 10:26:41 PM I was reading the new Sport Rider. Listed MSRP for a 899 is $14,995. That is almost the exact same price as a base model Aprilia RSV4R or for $150.00 more you can get a BMW S1000RR. That absolutely begs the question why get an 899?

Post by: MadDuck on January 24, 2014, 10:34:38 PM Easy answer, you wouldn't. True that! Unless you were a tried & true dyed in the wool Ducati freak. I like Ducs but not that much. Title: Re: 899 Panigale... Post by: 15899Pani on February 17, 2015, 03:13:06 PM I couldn't be more happy with my 899! This thing rides pretty damn sweet! Not everyone is looking to have /need the power of the liter bikes. I think the 899's are a pretty good bike for Oahu. ;D
Title: Re: 899 Panigale... Post by: MadDuck on February 18, 2015, 08:20:43 AM The 899 is a sweet bike all over. The 848 was damn nice too! The only thing was once the road opened up you tended to get left in the dust. At least when we used to ride with liter bikes. I'll bet the 899 is a whole lot easier to ride over Tantalus than an 1199/1299. But maybe not easier than my 1000R. [evil] [Dolph]

Post by: 15899Pani on February 18, 2015, 12:47:07 PM I like the sounds of that! [evil] A few mods and she should be just about perfect for my liking. ;D

Title: Re: 899 Panigale... Post by: MadDuck on February 18, 2015, 02:00:11 PM If I didn't know better, I would think that a gauntlet had been thrown down... ;) I was merely offering up the premise that since the S1000R is easier to ride over Tantalus than my old 848 that it might well be easier than the 899 too. Since I have not been on an 899 I couldn't say for sure. Not throwing down any gauntlets or anything. Seth was right, right on my tail the whole way the one time we rode up there. Post by: 15899Pani on February 18, 2015, 07:03:26 PM I have never truly taken an 848 out for a ride but the little bit I have, I think the 899 feels better.
