Anyone know the story behind this one?
Rider gassed it when they put all their weight on the rear end.

stupid happened
That's what I was going to say until I watched it, then I was thinking is had something to do with being both Stupid
and French.
That's a great example of going from hero to zero in a few seconds. Stupid Happens.
Hmm. i guess i didnt know you can power wheelie a motogp bike even when your already at 120mph. I thought he was trying to show of and clutch wheelie. I was hoping there was more to it. But i guess not. [popcorn]

it was a production-based superbike, not a motogp bike.

Same results obviously.

Hitting the powerband much?

iirc, he said he was a gear lower than the thought when he started to pull it up.
It looks like he stood up and bent over to look between his legs. Was he checking/taunting the riders behind him? Whatever it was, that move costed him.
Actually, we reviewed this video in the Cornerspeed school on Monday. Aaron Stevenson presented it as a tool to demonstrate what happens when you get your ego in the way of riding.
This guy pulled into the lead. He was so excited about being in the lead, he decided to show off. The worst part about it was that he didn't even complete one lap out of a 24 HOUR RACE. He pulled into the lead on the first lap and threw it all away. Needless to say, he got fired.
The hero stood up to do a standing wheelie. He overdid it! :D

All the best gear: $3k
HRC MotoGP race bike: $8mil
Learning to wheelie on camera: priceless
Well it aint HIS fault entirely, he thought launch control was on. still, its so funny to watch the bike stand up so quickly.
Break.com is blocked here @ work [roll] but let me guess:
-Is it the video of Max Biaggi doing an involuntary 12'oclock wheelie, then mashing the rear brake in a panic which makes him come crashing down & he rides it out??

no, but that one was make the beast with two backsing cool as shit. its the video of pedrosa on a turn of a track talking to someone, and he forgets that launch/traction control isnt on and the bike 360s. and he falls of. The guy in blue (forgot hi name) just sits on his bike and stares him. [laugh]
Wouldnt that video suck even more if the checkered flag was waving?
Great video of what can go wrong even when you have all the experience

John Hopkins on a Suzuki.
Amazing that he didn't seem to hurt anything but his pride and his pocketbook. I can hurt myself falling down in the driveway. Dolph
Yeah I saw this race, I thought he lead through the whole first lap of a 24 hour race and thought he would wheelie as he crossed
the line after the 1st lap. Not sure what he might have been thinking, let's see, I'll wheelie after the first freakin lap of a 24 hour race?
I really laughed when he did it, thinking what a way to let your ego get in the way.
I wonder what hopkins was saying inside that helmet. ;D

How could you associate stupidity and French in this video? How do you know the rider was French and not American or you just simply racist?

Please learn the difference between a nationality and a race.
For the record, if you bothered to watch the video that this is all about, the commentator was speaking French. I'm sure my biases have something to do with a bad experience trying to learn the language in seventh grade.
I like to make fun of Canadians too. And people who love cats. And Prius drivers. And anyone who owns a Kawasaki.
And sometimes I'll post something without putting a lot of thought into it, never expecting that I might have to defend it
three and a half months later. Lighten up.
Hey Scott, it's okay, He's a noob.
