Title: Welcome to 2014 Post by: monstermick58 on December 31, 2013, 09:31:43 PM This is not about those silly new years resolutions where I'm promising to loose weight, get fitter, earn more etc (although that would be good).
This is about what me and my bike are going to do with the encouragement of you over the year. So first things first, and that is to get one of my bikes back on the road I haven't decided which one and it will need to go to D-Moto (now where is there number) and then its time to get some day rides in. Now what are your plans (with your bike) for this year? Mmick Title: Re: Re: Welcome to 2014 Post by: Kev M on December 31, 2013, 09:45:53 PM All minor shit

That's a big loaded question Mmick. I'd say get that old yella meanie back on the road, it deserves a new lease on life. Yes we make the beast with two backsers were very slack at getting together for rides this year Dez. I thought there was a bit of feeling that some were getting [roll] at each other but that could just be my interpretation. A group ride could be the last on current ride........ Happy 2014 people's. Title: Re: Welcome to 2014 Post by: WayneR on January 01, 2014, 02:52:26 AM Suspension upgrades. Then ride the %*#^ out of it. [thumbsup]
The old road was perfect this afternoon. Empty. No cars, no [leo]. Some more of that would be nice. Title: Re: Welcome to 2014 Post by: DUCMONROB on January 01, 2014, 03:24:27 AM HAPPY NEW YEAR! [shot]

If you like I'll be happy to post a link next time I'm on a computer. The nice thing about them is they leave behind little hardware. A Powervision is an aftermarket ECM tuner that allows significant dataloging, mapping, and self-tuning/map correcting. There's a guy up here who knows the motec stuff inside out and will set it up and dyno it for me, as i know make the beast with two backs all about them. The only reason i'm using one is because i converted my 888 from 50mm std injection to 54mm shower injection with 12 port injectors etc. etc. with a custom carbon air box. this with the balanced hi comp engine and bigger cams means i need to be able to adjust the ignition and the P8 won't do it, i have stick coils rather than std ones to make room for the air box as well and the dwell is different blah blah so what looked like a simple project has taken the best part of a year, is still not done, and has cost me silly money with having to get a custom loom as well as everything else that has been needed..... in short, there's too many changes to be able to nail down how much of an improvement is due to just the motec ECU, but the rebuild with the std injection netted me 124 rwhp from 888cc so i'm hoping for 130+ considering they lean out terribly with the std injectors and throttle body size, and i now have the 1098 injectors and 54mm 748R throttle bodies with the restriction bored from 44mm to 50mm. Wow, you're not joking re project "blowout". Yeah one mod often requires another to support it and so forth.. I'm curious as to who made the airbox. At least you'll have someone who knows the system to map it. A mate's brother races super boats and it seems a lot those guys favour the Motec system. A neighbour worked there and she said they exported to racers worldwide, two wheels and four, water craft, etc. I guess there must be a worldwide support network for tuning, etc. Maybe Brad might know a bit about them. Should be awesome when its done and worthy of BOMB or a build thread. Be great to see how she goes. what kind of rearsets are you considering? I have been agonising over rizoma versus ducabike.Just wondering about the relacement parts and do i import (cheaper) or buy via Australian importer in case of problems? By the end of this year i want to see new bars(because of the RUST!) CRG Bar end mirrors, Arrow or Lanesplitters, CRG levers and some rearsets of some kind. Maybe a cool sprocket cover but not high on the list. :) Title: Re: Welcome to 2014 Post by: Two dogs on January 05, 2014, 02:28:38 PM Hi reddog
The Rizomas are probably the best from what Ung recommended lots of adjustability and bling factor but grossly expensive. Woodcraft were on my list but after some research I found out that have no brake switch and have some issues with spacers on the brake side , these and Sato's seem aimed at track use and are both at a hefty price . I plan on getting these : http://www.pjsparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=2441 (http://www.pjsparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=2441) much cheaper ,good quality , they are not adjustable but place the feet further back and up . Title: Re: Welcome to 2014 Post by: reddog on February 17, 2014, 04:41:39 AM Ha , yet another change of heart (or mind). Reckon im going to go for metaltech , just love that chunky look. It doesnt seem to be easy to get rearsets for a reasonable price in Aus. Everytime i find something and their website says "In Stock" , after ringing and checking it appears that all stockists or distributors are just middle men who have to actually import these parts and then pass it on to you. May as well just order from overseas to start with. ???
Title: Re: Welcome to 2014 Post by: Two dogs on February 17, 2014, 01:10:31 PM Had the same issue , no one actually holds them in stock. [thumbsdown]
Ended up on a different path , after reading some stuff on the main board I have installed thanks to Brian for donating [thumbsup] a set of OEM rearsets from his S4R . Pretty much a straight bolt up if you have the complete unit. They look so much better now without the horrid chicken wings which also push your heals out and when I put some nice black grippy pegs on and finish the CF heal gaurds which I am making it will look fantastic.......lucky Mrs Dogs. The left hand side easy peasy the brake side not soo. As Brian had given away the brake lever to another member , I quickly discovered that there is a few issues. The master cylinder adjustment rod is too short from the 696 as the cylinder is bolted inboard too the inside of the rearset hidden from view. So I am waiting on a used one from Metro spares $20 also the micro switch on the 696 threads into the rearset, on the S4R it pokes through a hole with something called a "special nut " holding it in place. In Ducati's infinite wisdom [roll] [bang] it is half the thickness of any nut available in the Friken WORLD [bang] [laugh] so its wait three weeks for a delivery from Italy or buy one from Eurobrit spares in Melbourne AT A BARGAIN PRICE OF $33 [laugh] Still so far its cost make the beast with two backs all so I cant complain and I haven't paid Brian $50 [laugh] for the brake lever which he paid for and had his brother -inlaw pick up from D-Moto so that will be fun stretching that out for 12 months ;D [evil] I did how ever offer him payment in 5c pieces which I calculated at a weight of 2.830 kilo's [cheeky] So far he hasn't taken up that offer [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [clap] [popcorn] Title: Re: Welcome to 2014 Post by: reddog on February 18, 2014, 03:41:15 AM Not bloody winning now i hear the company that makes metaltech is belly up [bang]
might see if some one has them in stock.......surely? ??? Twodogs, pity im 1200kms away it would be cool to meet up with Mrs Twodogs for monster rides. My other half is considering getting a M1100, he has been converted(gixxers) since there has been a black duc in the driveway [clap] Title: Re: Welcome to 2014 Post by: koko64 on February 18, 2014, 12:04:09 PM Tell him to save the Gixxer for track days, but get the big twin for the street, much more fun at any speed. ;)
In the Peoples Republic of Victoria, the Gixxer would land me in jail if I rode it on the street, so its set up purely for the track. Title: Re: Welcome to 2014 Post by: Scoober1103 on February 22, 2014, 04:52:53 PM Agree with Koko, since getting off super sports and onto my M1100 my license is a little safer and I am enjoying riding more.
I am also on the hunt for rearsets and also am looking at either a set of s*r OEM's or even getting a set of 1100 evo OEM's as they are already black and from US are actually not badly priced. Need to research if they are a direct fit on the 1100/796/696. But my issue is I need pillion pegs as I take my eldest daughter with me. So am thinking of a Rizoma pillion setup with either of the above. I don't want to mess with peg position to much as I like where it is now (yes they are low and regularly drag my boot slider) but I cannot stand the 'CHICKEN WINGS'! The shape is horrid but on mine with a black frame, black swingarm and black skins the rough cast natural alloy just looks out of place and wrong! Title: Re: Welcome to 2014 Post by: Two dogs on February 22, 2014, 06:41:31 PM Ended up finding a nut that fit the thread , took to it on the grinder until it was thin enough to fit the micro switch.
The adjuster rod I ordered from the wrecker arrive but was the same length [roll] in the bin it went . Making do with the set up brake pedal is a bit low but she is getting use to it so no drama. Made some CF boot gaurds now too order some grippy pegs. Much nicer to ride on without the chicken wings pushing your heals out and IMO looks better. Spoke so much about doing this trip last year and then it didn't happen :'( so didn't want to get my hopes up. And since re-booking I have been really ill and not sure I would be able to go [thumbsdown] have fixed that by eating several bags of cement. Still won't really believe it until I land in Argentina I think. Didn't post up about transiting through Sydney because I wasn't going to be there long but my flights have now changed, hence the six hour wait. I'm sure I will find something to do in that time (sleeping would be good ;)) Will be posting photos for sure. On facebook for starters because it's so easy (me and Jukie are FB friends so you can see them there) and then when I come back I'll chuck something up on here. Had a nice little ride last month up to Bathurst with a couple of mates to spread my good mates ashes ( we even did two quick laps with him around 'the track' for old times sake) and the bike was running really nice from there I headed up north to Mudgee to see my eldest boy (Scott) any way the next day I fired the bike up and put my gear on and the bike sounded a bit flat, yep firing on one cylinder. Long story short, the magic box under the seat wont fire both injectors, I sent another one up to Mudgee from a 916 but it wouldn't even prime the fuel lines, so the bike is still sitting at my sons place in Mudgee and I'm down here trying to figure out my next move. Feel free to chime in, cant hurt. Anyway thanks for listening (er.. reading) Mmick Title: Re: Welcome to 2014 Post by: mattyvas on April 04, 2014, 02:51:02 AM Not good news on both fronts Mmick.
Leads or plugs? I know it's a bit obvious and I'm sure you've checked them. Matty... Title: Re: Welcome to 2014 Post by: monstermick58 on April 04, 2014, 04:01:08 PM No Matty, both plugs are working fine, did the plug swap and all that but it is definitely the front injector not firing so the problem has to be either the wiring harness or from the magic box that sends the signal down to the injector, the injector itself is working fine as Iv'e had it checked and I was with the bloke when he tested it so that is where I'm looking to those areas mentioned.
