Title: New Speedymoto Rearsets
Post by: squidwood on July 18, 2008, 08:21:44 AM
Hey gang-Sometime back I posted that the boys at Speedymoto had the clip ons for sale. They are selling quickly and they will be at Leguna Seca this weekend with the clip ons there for you all to drool over should you want some.
I also know that they have 3 prototype sets of Rear Sets for Superbikes with them and that they will be taking orders there if you need some.
Monster Rear Sets are being researched and developed and are not yet ready for testing.
I am off riding  for the day and then maybe some racing tonight [thumbsup]

You tease!  Don't play with my emotions!

But good to know that SM is looking to get into the rearsets game too

I love SpeedyMoto [thumbsup]

Wish they would make some with four way adjustability - an inch down as well - like CycleCat.

Next year?

I'm really looking for some simple looking, but adjustable rearsets for the monster. Something like you'd see for the superbikes. Seems like most of the options for the monster are way too flashy, and also end up being over priced because of that.

I want something understated, just something that looks like the 888 style with some adjustability would be great. will Speedymoto bring this to the table?

I hope so.

Post by: squidwood on July 19, 2008, 06:06:23 PM
the rear sets that they have for the superbikes look really nice and are fully adjustable. [thumbsup] The ones that are being developed for the monsters will not be obtrusive and they too should be fully adjustable like the superbike models. They have mocked up some prototype designs, but as of yet no final decisions have been made as to design, testing and release date.

I have to get back to work and dig out the camara....hehehhe...

There is still some more development work to do on the footpegs and levers...so it is difficult to say as what we saw where just prototypes.
The adjustment looks a little like the Acculign rear sets but the adjustment is much easier. The body is a a very simple I beam design similar to S&P but with the nice Speedymoto finish.

We are asking for a large run of "NCR" type Mat titanium finish for Motowheels in addition to their standard colors. We are going to pair some up with optional CF heel guards and titanium bolts.

from the prototypes I saw a couple months ago the adjustment is up,down forward and back.
There are working prototypes full metal and anodized which were seen last weekend at Leguna Seca.Superbike rearsets will be available to the public this fall. (thats like 6-8 weeks away by my watch) maybe sooner.
Monster rearsets after that, nothing set in stone at this time. When I get the nod from Speedymoto I'll let you guys know!!

Here are some pics of the rearsets for you folks.  I can't give you any other information on them really.  The bikes are just down the road from my house and the guys at Speedymoto said it was cool if I threw up some shots for you.  Enjoy.

The black ones are on a 1098 and the silver shot is on a Sport Classic.

Any idea at all when they might be coming?

Thanks....I figured as much. I just hope they STILL make them, people WILL buy them.

I guess the real question is will THIS now classic monster be forgotten by the aftermarket?

Because the new monster 1100's rearsets are dreadful, and it would suck to be left behind with no real choice for certain parts......

I don't see many new products for the older style monsters being introduced. SpeedyMoto sounded like they were going to make them, but they also said they are working on a line of 696 parts.

spoke with pj of pjsparts.com today
and he was going to look into retrofitting a spring on the rizomas next time he went by the machine shop,
just keeps forgetting to bring the rearsets with him...
the rizomas DO have the rubber o-ring return spring, of which they provide 2,
which appear to be long-lived,
but i think i would certainy go hunt down a simple spring to take its place...
if the rest of the rearsets are up to the usual rizoma standard and thats the only thing holding them back,
i think theyre certainly worth doing....

Title: Re: New Speedymoto Rearsets
Post by: jesse370 on October 22, 2008, 01:33:51 PM
Its just a bizarre thing. Rizoma MAKES nice parts and to include a rubber band is a cop-out in my book.

One of my buddies has them on his monster and if you have wide feet or like to be out farther on the peg you may find the stock pegs too short. He had to install the optional (extra$$) folding pegs to get them the way he wanted.

That's wack that development isn't considering older monsters. I'm not giving up. Besides, the UK ebay/Europe seems to cater to "us."

I'd check directly with them to make sure - I don't work for SpeedyMoto - just a retailer of their products.

Most companies don't go back and make products for non-current models when they come out with something new... For example when ZARD started making exhausts it was during the S2R/S4R era and they didn't go back and make exhausts for the older monsters.

So good news of sorts.

1. The first rear sets from SpeedyMoto are now being released... but are for the 749/999 and 848/1098/1198
 - http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=22257.0 (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=22257.0)

2. They DO PLAN to take care of the S2R/S4R - they might end up doing the 696/1100 first, but they are going to try to do them at the same time... they will be working on this over the next couple of months and hope to have some Monster rear sets available in the summer!

Its a race.  An annoyingly slow race.....  I'm hanging out for rear-sets for my 696 and here's the deal:  I'm ordering my 696 rear-sets from whoever releases 'em first....  So who wants the business guys, Rizoma or SpeedyMoto??

Give it time - if its the same set up as the 1100 (looks like it, never can tell about hole locations though) then something will be out eventually. meanwhile, keep checking over at Motowheels where I'm sure they'll put something out, be it one of the manufacturer's parts, or one they make themselves.

I believe, further, that the setup is the 2000+ DSS setup, but again, I could be wrong. I get awfully distracted on Paternity Test Tuesday (curse you morning radio show!)

I never can figure out why there's a difference from 1999 and earlier DSS and 2000+ DSS Monsters, when the stock rearsets look the same. But Rizoma chose to find a distinguishing characteristic, and build theirs for the 2000+ (but originally were available for pre-2000's I believe. Some lack of spacer now?)

Okay problem solved  ;D

Rizoma just sent me an email with their new M696 parts lineup... everything from belt covers, plate holder, sliders, etc... to rear sets with passenger pegs!

I'll list these up on my site soon - just waiting on some final info to come through... like price, etc... for the US. It does look like they will be quite expensive. Here are the Euro prices which don't translate direct to US via the current conversion - but you'll get the point.

Rear sets: 699 euro
Passenger pegs: 249 euro
Passenger peg adapters: 29 euro

They look really good too! I'll post an image later...

what is that PM501? the timing belt cover is ok, but i think i'll go with the dp carbon fiber one. and i'm not feeling those fatty bars, though i do like them black. but those rear sets are sweet! will the standard rizoma passenger pegs kit work with those rear sets? also, when will these be available?

PM501 is an engine protector set.... sliders if you will. Passenger pegs are designed to work with the 696 - not universal (well the pegs are, but not the mounting brackets). I'll get you an ETA soon.

Monster 696 items should be available around the middle of June - just over a month away. All tooling is done and they are being made now - anodized, etc...

yeah let me know when they are available. i think i'll be ordering the rear sets and passenger peg kit. i really wish i didn't need the passenger pegs because it kind of defeats the purpose of even putting on the rearsets. but oh well...

if that's from desmo works i think that includes a 19% VAT that you guys in the states don't have to pay.

There goes the tax refund...  rear sets with Ryanracer's exhaust might look pretty incredible...

Like I said in my original post of price - it won't be at an even exchange... if you look at any of our Rizoma prices they are quite a bit lower than the equivalent euro price! These definitely won't be cheap though  :P

On a side note - why do I never get topic notifications - I have it setup for instant and I only get emails for the first one or two responses then nothing else?

IT Help: make sure its set to remember all the time, if you click a topic link, and you aren't logged in, you'll have deleted the email, but it won't register has having removed the flag stating you've looked at the topic. Thus, every subsequent post on the thread after that will not be "viewed" AND not notify you of new posts. So triple/quadruple check that. Especially on reboots, or browser-closings.

please post a pic with the passenger peg kit when you get one!!! i really want to see what it looks like with it...

Here ya go...

Me? I'll be going for just  the rear-sets without the passenger hangers...looks too reminiscent of the unattractive original fitment foot-peg hanger IMO...  guess if you carry a pillion its a necessity though.

Also.... I cant wait for these in black....

Yes sir - I'll have the pricing sometime tomorrow, but I'm closing on the sale of my house so I won't be around most of the day... I plan to work on this either Saturday or Sunday depending what else is going on at the shop on Saturday.

The US price will not be a straight conversion of the Euro price listed... it will be less.

wait wait wait. belt covers in black?  since when? Rizoma hasn't made black belt covers before. Just like they only make rearsets in black (even though they often picture the rearsets or parts of the rearset in gold on their website).

damn it i see what you mean.

i really love the look of the rear sets, but with the passenger pegs it looks a lot like the stock ones! it defeats even getting them. problem is i NEED to have passenger pegs...

At least 2 bolts will take them off... use them with the passenger then remove them so your friends don't make fun of you  [clap]

when will these be available?

i think i'll be ordering the rear sets and the passenger kit asap. i don't REALLY mind the passenger kit as it sort of takes away from that big ass bulky swing arm...

and i'm debating on either the rizoma belt covers or the dp carbon fiber belt covers...

on the other hand, i don't like the rizoma sproket cover, handle bar adaptors, engine gaurds, or progaurds...

No debate for me.  Cant wait to get a set of those black Rizoma belt covers on my red 696...   dreading the price though.   The DP carbon ones do look good on a white bike....

Rizoma rear-sets..... man they look cool... but $810... :o  +$$?? for fold-up accessory pegs...http://www.desmoworks.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=401_402&products_id=462&zenid=2fca6039b5d2b5b6eb290ccbe9d9c11c (http://www.desmoworks.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=401_402&products_id=462&zenid=2fca6039b5d2b5b6eb290ccbe9d9c11c)

Belt covers....  @ $399... are around the price of Rizoma covers for other Duc models....  http://www.desmoworks.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=401_402&products_id=462&zenid=2fca6039b5d2b5b6eb290ccbe9d9c11c (http://www.desmoworks.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=401_402&products_id=462&zenid=2fca6039b5d2b5b6eb290ccbe9d9c11c)

I can certainly feel the belt covers coming on... but the rear-sets are too much of a premium over Rizoma's other models for me to be an early-adopter....  at current exchange rates anything over US$749 is liable for +10% duty when it lands Down Under... (actually everything is liable for +10% when it gets here but under AU$1000 they seem to not be bothered about... yeah all very interesting for you guys, I know...).

Okay, almost everything is up now... mostly for the 696, but a couple of items for the 1100 also and then all the universals like the grips and bar ends. Check out the selection here: http://www.desmoworks.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=401_402 (http://www.desmoworks.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=401_402)

Still will add mirrors, replacements for the OEM pegs and the pro guard system - but probably tomorrow. I think I'm going to go see Star Trek tonight.
