Pay no attention to the twaddling on about RE buying Ducati.
Just look at the pics.

There's some deception going on, rear head shows no evidence of a frame mount on the right side.
Top views show a big mount on the left side.
This pic of the complete bike shows a big honkin' frame spar terminating in that area.

Would one call that a deep sump?
Deep like Lake Tahoe.
Variable height velocity stacks.

Variable height velocity stacks.
Kind of looks like it's the injectors that moves... or am I missing something?
I think the whole thing slides up and down on those posts about 50-60mm.
Actually maybe more as the stacks look in the middle position. The rail looks fixed and I wonder how much the shower type injectors move. The closer I look the less sure I am. From the other angle it looks like the whole shebang moves on those posts. From the posts and sliders they could also be in the top position and only move as far to meet the lower stack.
Got the Ducati official email. Compression ratio 14:1

Email I got states 2 injectors per cyl. One above and one below the butterfly. The lower one is for low load application and the other is activated when needed.

210+ hp is "handy". [evil]
The upper velocity stacks appear to slide up and down on the silver posts, 2 front, 2 rear.
The upper injectors appear to be held by some missing bits likely attaching to the airbox.
Only decent pic of the left side I've found so far:

Big loss of torque. I'm wondering how it will sit. I rode a friends inline 4 and it felt like I was sitting on a horse. But I haven't been on a V4 in 20 years and I didn't have the VTwin reference at the time.
I doubt a loss of torque... It should sound like nothing else:

It's only rated at 88.51 lb-ft of torque...
You're going to miss a half a ft/lb off the 1198? And that's more than a panigale chart a quick Google search picked up...
With a given displacement, you can only get so much twist. You do get (with an unlimited budget) to choose the rpm and curve... I bet this has a smoother delivery and more area under the curve.
http://desmosedicistradale.ducati.com/en_ww/datasheet/
"More than 120 Nm (88.51 lb-ft) from 8,750 to 12,250 rpm*"
Which means more than 147 HP at 8750rpm, and more than 206 HP at 12250rpm.
That sounds healthy...

Yowsa.
Not sure what he's doing, but he's sure got it sideways.

This doesn't sound like any V4 I've ever heard. Did he confuse it with this one:

It's the offset crank. Kind of like how a cross-plane R1 is the only sexy-sounding I4.
And when he pans over the top triple, it clearly says V4 Stradale...

I agree they need to make the cost of Ducati ownership cheaper.
I noted one Persia's comment about valve springs replacing Desmo.
Dropping rubber belts for chains and Desmo for valve springs would surely lower service costs! Seriously, 32 shim checks on a V4! Yikes!
M821/1200 are 18k miles on valves, 18k/5 yr on belts
899 Pani, V4 Pani are 15k on valves, never on belts
MTS1260 is 18k miles on valves, 18k/5 yr on belts
For many first owners, that qualifies as never.
Well you make a fair point. Those are certainly long intervals.
18k on belts?! :o

The motors in those bikes are water cooled, so I'm thinking that's got something to do with it.
I'm more concerned about the 5 years, I've a strong feeling that in the real world that will turn out to be never.
----------------------
V4 has it's own dedicated new valve shims and halfrings, plus the bores are 7mm smaller than any 4-valver before, so that means to me that they're smaller than the existing 6mm taperlocks in use on a few motors.
That's really small.
That's bloody tiny.
