It has in Detroit (and that's saying a lot): http://www.foxbusiness.com/story/markets/economy/house-sells-dollar/
Make sure you read the last paragraph. [laugh]
Wow....
I'm from MI. I'm always paying attention to things back home since the family is still there. It's a sad situation.
Although..I did see that Ohio and it's economy is worse than MI. yikes! :-[
It seems like I heard there were about 25K abandoned and condemned homes in Detroit. That's not the correct number but it was staggering to say the least! :-\
That link is sad!!
My buddy's gutters were stolen 2 years ago. Yep, they were copper. It's pretty common, especially since China's demand for copper has driven prices so high.

Oh yeah. My bro and my mom's b/f both work in construction. Anything with copper has to be locked in a friggen vault!! [roll]

Tell me about it! My brother is a security guard and half the properties he guards are in the middle of contruction. He's keeping the looters away. Freakin meth-freaks...

We have construction across the street. The s/o was asking why they hang their ladders and other machinery from the cranes?? Then she said it couldn't be safe. [roll] I just pat her on the head.

My Mom sales real estate and does property management. In one of her properties, the people moved out and stole all the wiring out of the walls. :-\

LOL..I've heard that too!! Crazy!!
We have a development in the area with BEAUTIFUL Tuscan style homes. The guys in Austin warned me about the builder..all kinds of lawsuits from this development (drainage issues, etc). Anyway, we wandered in there by accident a few weeks ago and caught a couple guys stealing stuff from the houses in broad daylight.

People have stolen stuff from job sites forever, but it is getting out of control with the struggling economy. People will do anything for a dollar.
My Dad's a builder and has had plenty of things stolen and caught some as well. The best was when he caught someone stealing and asked them what they were doing. They said, "Oh, just getting some stuff. The builder said I could come by and get it." [laugh] He's like, "Oh, I did, I must've forgot about that." They were just stealing scraps though, so he just told them to leave and if he caught them again they wouldn't like it.
And a lot of the time, stealing in broad daylight is easier because people are either at work or think you're suppose to be there.

Yeah..and if you look cool and noncholant about it..you can also get into cars and walk into peoples homes!
Didn't that just happen to someone??
[cheeky] BP
saw on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel tonight that sales of properties in Vancouver, BC are down 37% from same time last year, though prices are only down by 5%. Wanna make a quick kill buy a property there- keep it for 6 months and then sell it as hype for the 2010 Winter Olympics gears up. ;D

Pretty sad when you see prices this low back there!! 2 years ago..similar homes were selling for nearly double the price!!
Quote....Boards that were used to board up the windows were also stolen and used to board up a house down the street, according to The Detroit News.
Classic! [bang]
I'm selling my house in Phoenix that I bought three years ago (at the peak of the market) at a $125K loss. :o
Fortunately, the company makes up a bit of that loss, and I've made a bit of money in prior deals, but dayum! [bang]

Made 60K on last house, hoping to break even on current one. The market is just terrible everywhere.
