Hello everyone. I just purchased the corse dynamics velocity stacks and k&n air filters for my monster s2r. Has anyone else had serious problems with getting the filters on to the velocity stacks? I have tried everything and can not get them on. I don't know if motowheela sent me the wrong filters or what. Any advice helps.
Did you try talking to MotoWheels?
I just got the set today. I was wondering if anyone had similar issues with the parts. I'm calling them first thing in the morning.
Or is it just the absolute tightest fit known to man kind?
Yes, a very tight fit. I heated the flanges of the pods in hot water first and WD40'd the stack rings. I pressed the filters on by gripping the base of the filters so as to not crush them.
Call them to get tips and just as a precaution.
I tried all that jazz earlier with absolutely zero luck. As soon as the filters started getting a little messed up (cosmetically) I called it a night. I'll try again tomorrow. Hopefully I can get them on and get a couple of the squiggly filter marks out. Thanks for the input.
Also, did you use anything to stretch the filter base out? Or did you just force it on after heating it up?
Can you post a pic showing the side view of the stack?
We don't host pics, here's how to do it: http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=109.15
Corsa Dynamics photos show none of the shape in question.
I honestly dont remember stretching the filters but with careful patient effort I got them on. It was good knowing they were secure.
A bunch of cuss words, blood, and sweat later they are on. Thanks for the input everyone!
[thumbsup] Yep, that's the one ;D
I heated up the rubber base of the filters with hot water as recommended and used some dish soap on the velocity stacks to lube that puppy up. I had to do some pretty serious prying on the base to get the filter on the stacks. The only bummer is that one of the filters did get a little crunched. Not too bad. I rotated it so that side of the filter is unseen. Maybe I'll get another filter one day and try again. Just knowing that it is there is bothersome. Also I know that the small filter included with the kit goes on the crankcase hose. But I have another hose that seems to run straight down into the motor that is open. I guess I have to find a filter small enough for it. Any thoughts from people that have the kit installed?

Other thinner hoses, yes, but they don't go into the engine. Do they?
Probably a stepper motor hose that needs a little filter
That's what I was thinking. When I fired the bike up after I got the stacks and filters on and shut it off there was a bit of smoke coming out of the hose.
Depending on year and model, that may indeed be your idle air valve.
And you don't want it sucking in a bunch of crap, so if that's it then it needs clean air.
