+1 happy job thoughts coming your way :)

UPDATE:

It's been 24 hours since I sent the email to the hiring manager.  Still no word.  Hmmmmm...  Obviously, I am not a priority.  If they wanted me badly enough, I would have heard.  Since nothing has happened yet, I'm thinking that I'm not ruled out yet.  I'm just not that high on the list.  Also thinking that perhaps they made an offer to someone else and are waiting for a response.  If the preferred person(s) are not accepting the offer/position, then at least I'm still in the running, but maybe at a distance second or third or...  As my kind, unsympathetic brother told me sarcastically, "Obviously they don't want you.  Get over it."  What an a-hole!  I don't mind being #2 if I get a job.

I did have another first interview today, so that's good and perhaps it could also lead to something.

On top of all of this, we just got a first sprinkling of rain.  So the roads are slick with oil, dust, etc.  That means no riding today for me.   :(

I've never had a job that came back to me in a timely manner-they say Thursday...I hear from them the Tuesday after. Etc etc.

I'm in the same position you are in right now.  I had a series of interviews about 3 weeks ago with the ending statement from the 'big boss' that  a decision would be made in about 3 weeks.

Last week I followed up with the senior people I interviewed with (NOT the HR flacks).  I wanted to make sure that the people I would be working with and reporting to knew that I was interested in the position.

Today I followed up with one of the HR flacks because he and I went to the same college and have the same major.  It won't help with getting the job, but having any sort of "in" within a company is GREAT.

Since I sent an email last week, next week I'll be calling the big boss to press my case another time (and hopefully get feedback).

Good call with sending the email.  I grew up in the "thank you note" era, and sending emails has just about COMPLETELY ended that era.  I have lawyer friends who say they get creeped out when they get those little envelopes.  Email is immediate, someone can respond to it instantly, and (this is VITAL) you can say the exact same thing in an email as you would on a cute little cream/tan notecard.

Just some feedback from a finance professional who's been doing this a while!

UPDATE

Just got a call from the hiring manager and I did not get the job.  Bummer!

Triple J, I am a sales veteran in the CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) industry basically working for the manufacturer selling any and all products that end up in traditional grocery stores.  Usually this is done with me managing sales brokers that have the relationships with the retailers.  I also handle the trade promotions, sales plans, and forecasting.  My experience is in the western U.S. geography.  My last title was Regional Sales Manager.

Hello?  Any one know of opportunities for a Regional Sales Manager or a National Account Manager (think Safeway) based in Northern California for managing accounts in the western U.S.?

It takes seemingly forever to hear back. Especially if you're not working....  :P

Any latex experience?  I hear VanDeLey Industries is hiring.

Sorry, couldn't help it.  Went for levity.  Good luck.

Munch,  Thanks for the tip.  I actually did review this, but I miss on a couple of points, most notably 4 years of related experience (?).  Maybe I'll throw my hat in the ring anyway.  One never knows.

Don't ever admit to that.
