no.... it's not.

from reading posts from a number of people here....it would appear that lot's of people are upset.

my theory is...... "we" want the monster challenge back (the everymans version ... ok ladies too), and lots of people thought  they would see entries similar to what we saw in the monster challenge of old.

And that didnt happen.

That didnt happen because it was never meant to be a contest for us, and IMO....... it never should have been labled a "contest" to start with.

maybe "showcase", but not contest.

Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar kicked me out of the band..... they said I didnt fit the image they were trying to project.

So I went solo.  -Me

Keep in mind...

I'm a painter.

I admire all the hard work that all the painters put in to the 'contest'.

My skillset is not the same as theirs...I doubt I could do that stuff.

I happen to be of the mind that the best paint jobs are the ones that complement the bike...

not ones that 'are the bike'.

I agree. (this coming from a guy who pretty much wanted and got a "no paint" bike   ;D

good point; this is why I like the more subtle paint jobs that dont overwhelm the bike; but then again I really like the day of the dead bike it was truly artistic & original; and somehow didnt seem to detract from the idea of a nacked bike.

A truly nacked bike is as stripped down; no crome; an all matt dark finish; no bright plastic ... perhaps this is where the contest falls down; its getting away from the nacked bike which was a great concept.  Some bikes with subtle custom paint still seem to work for me; some surtle custom paint still seem to capture the spirit of a nacked bike .... note the the winner looks like the monstor web design ... hummm a little self gratification there ....

Did they all leave on the reflectors? [roll]

At some point in the near future, they will have to sell these bikes to a customer, so they don't want to totally toss the DOT/EPA junk out the window.

BP - I will try to connect the dots:

DNA sponsors the DML and the .ms forums.  Those forums feature the winning bike, right before the voting starts.  The winning bike wins, and then ywe wonder where all the on-line votes came from.  I bet if the DMF featured Duc-seas bike right before the voting, then it would have received more votes too.  Therefore, the VS kissing DNA and DNA kissing VS remarks.

okee dokee... I was not aware of the timeline aspect..... that and I haven't been over to the DML in awhile.

still..... it was not a contest for us... it was a stupid advertising gimmick. And didn't ducsea post a thread with a teaser pics prior to the voting and a video the day after voting started?
And yes... I know the DNF did not "feature" the bike.... but like I said earlier..... every dealer that participated in this had an opportunity to knock their bike out of the park, and IMO.... none of them did.

Anyway ya slice it..... to all of us... cept maybe Dave  ;), our bikes are art, and all art is relative to the eye judging it.

I like art shows.... not art contests

I honestly thought DucPond would run away with it.  They put the most into their bike, and it one of the best of the new monsters I have seen!

Congrats on a well executed project DucPond you had my vote 8)

+1, the winning bike was the least interesting, IMHO.
