saw this on CL, was wondering if this thing is good for a around town no flogging bike. I bet a honda civic has more passing power then this thing, but im looking for something that will warm up quick so i dont have to start the monster. something like
5 mile trips.  Reliable?

I think it'd be cool. I would low ball him though...

I bought a '72 CB175 about a year ago for $375. It was running and had a set of newly rebuilt carbs.  My case looks in better shape.  My chrome is mostly toast.  It is a blast to ride, more peppy than you think.  I put a new chain on it, new batt, upgraded the coil, put new plug and coil wires on it, upgraded the rear shocks and put a rack on it for the GF. I plan to do a total tear down one of these days.  I'm looking for a disk front end and the chrome fenders.  There are lots of aftermarket parts - most available from Honda dealers still.  It is also very easy to work on.
996 forks, BoomTubes, frame sliders, CRG bar-end mirrors, vizitech integrated tail light, rizoma front turn signals, rizoma grips, cycle cat multistrada clip ons, pantah belt covers - more to come

Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar kicked me out of the band..... they said I didnt fit the image they were trying to project.

So I went solo.  -Me

That's my wifes' daily rider! I picked it up for $200 after sitting in a barn since the 80's and it run like a charm. As a matter of fact I'd been tooling around on it all day.

I love it!

I, too, have been toying around the idea of buying a small displacement Honda CB/CL and turning it into a cafe.  Just something mess around with and ride it around town.  This one in picture is very well done.  Would love to have one like this myself.  Definitely going to save the pic for future reference.

I have a '74 CB450 with 9000 miles that I have stripped to the bare frame and just deciding whether to cafe it or take it back to stock.

I had a CB550 that was excellent.  Not great of fuel through.  Better than the GS1150 that replaced it (25mpg).  My TS185 gets around 70mpg ~
