I certainly wouldn't put it past ducati to be that way, though.

On the 996 the pump does not prime when the kill switch is activated.

It does have an FIM chip and a modified harness, so who knows how it was out of the factory.

The only thing the kill switch on an S4 isolates is the ignition.  The pump primes and the starter turns with the switch off.
