I think I broke something...

Today I installed my new handlebars on my 2001 M904ie only to find that my bike now wont turn over. Everything from the bars removed and reconnected OK - or so I thought. But I must have jarred something loose. Can someone point me in the direction of what to check first?

When I turn the key I no longer hear the whir of the fuel pump priming, and when I hit the started button nothing happens - I dont even hear the click of the starter motor. Power to the rest of the bike seems fine.  I only touched the handlebar mountings, can anyone help me please?

Check the kill switch on the right handlebar.

but the kill switch doesn't prevent the pump from priming...

Thanks guys, but the kill switch was the first thing I checked (OK yes it was switched to off [bang] but that wasn't the cause of my problem). I had to loosen the ignition assembly to slide it off and I wonder if I pulled a wire loose?

EEL, what is the clutch interlock?

Also I suspect the fuel pump must be a clue as to what I've broken. I'm going to try and find some wiring diagrams.

the clutch interlock switch is under your clutch master, the switch closes when you pull the lever in.

it's a safety thing, like the kickstand switch

i HATE that kickstand switch.. i want to remove it but i dont know if its healthy to have it running with that heavy lean the ducati gets when the kickstand is on...

huh?

I don't think there will be any problem with your bike running while leaned over. That would kind of defeat the purpose of riding the twistys  ;)

A lot of people bypass that switch. Pretty common mod. You can do it yourself if you're handy, but if you're not you can just use this   http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/80024_01/Electrical/80024_01.html
