Best place to buy 14 tooth sprocket for S2R 1000
«

I want to have the 14 tooth sprocket put on at my 600 mile new bike service. Do I need to buy it and bring it to the dealer or is this something the dealer may have in stock? If I need to buy one where do you recommend?
Thanks for your help

If I were you, I would change out both sprockets and the chain to a 520 and lose some weight there...

Do you get much out of swapping to the 14 tooth sprocket? I have been thinking about it for a while, but just haven't pulled the trigger. Any negatives to it?

I just purchased mine at the dealer. they seem to have a stockpile of them. the cost of the sprocket worked out to be 100 bucks installed. the best 100 bucks you could ever spend. however, i was at a marcus dairy a few weeks back and some guy said that it would effect my speedometer. i don't know by how much or even if that is true?

not true at all. the speed is measured at the wheel so any changes before have no effect.
some other bikes measure the speed in the transmission, so altering the final drive will effect the speedo's accuracy.

Monsterparts is a very good supplier, if you need something else give ca-cycleworks a shot. good people, great prices.

There were _some_ reports on TOB of single sided swingarm bikes having excessive chain slider wear on top of the swingarm when switching to a 14t front, certainly not on all bikes and somewhat more prevalent on bikes with raised rear ride height, but also from one or two people who swore their bikes were bone-stock otherwise.
