"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Nah, but my wife doesn't really care what I buy or do, as long as the fam is taken care of.    [thumbsup]

I could easily buy a Streetfighter S. She probably wouldn't notice. But then I'd break my "enough money on hand to be out of work for a year" rule.

Damn my parents for raising a goody two shoes.  [bang]
I own several motorcycles. I have owned lots of motorcycles. And have bolted and/or modified lots of crap to said motorcycles...

keep at least one credit card that is not a joint account.  i do, she does.  we never ask each other about it.  it's sort of an unspoken understanding.  we all need to splurge every once in a while.

+1, except make it a debit card.  We divide the expenses evenly, contribute an agreed amount to savings, then the rest is money for toys.  If you have no toys, then life isn't a lot of fun.

So effective immediately, a new rule has been implemented in the home

All maintenance related items (oil changes, valve adjustments, timing belts, chain tensioning, chain lube, throttle syncing, etc) will be logged by me in a book. All associated labor hours will be tallied up credited to me at the GOING shop rate ($80/hr, 15 minute minimum) for future purchases.

This money can then be used for any mods I choose at any time.

Cause I'm sure she will go for that!!!!

Yup.

Right now I NEED a car.  My AC took a crap on the beater I'm driving, and it's summer time in Atlanta.  Can't commute 25 mins to work in 105 deg temps without arriving smelling like a bum.

I'm having a hard time "treating" myself to a nice car, something sub 15k that will be nice.

Whoa-holy ancient thread revival.

OP-ever get your house or forks?  :D
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.
