Rat900, it's not the people on the floor, its those up at the top pulling the strings. A select handful of people influence the global economy and they are the ones who need to be held accountable. Not to mention I don't want to be drug out and lynched for being one of those people on the trading floor.

But yea, an 848 evo for about 7k should satisfy my hunger. Then again I'd get 2, one for street one for track....ok maybe 3
Is this thing on?

Anyone happen to notice the come back of the Euro ?

Last I looked it was 1.2914 to the dollar.

Up from almost 1.20 to the dollar.

So much for the idea of the fall of the Euro to parody .

Yes and No, but that would be considered a "political" conversation verse what it actually is.......an economics conversation.

However, I don't think it will lower the price of Ducati's in the US, just will give you more buying power in Europe (where EUR is currency)

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Jud is right. I feel dirty now. The only impact you'll see is if you travel to Europe, like I'll be doing next year, and you actually eat out without having to take out another loan on your house.

Last I knew Ducati prices things the same unit number for bikes no matter if it is here or there. i.e. 1,000 is 1,000.  Dollars or Euros only matters for the country in which it is sold.

Then again I could be full of shit and not know wtf I'm talking about.

Now we are getting into a little thing called transfer pricing and accounting.

I am guessing that Ducati has legal entities set up all over the world. For example, Ducati North America, etc etc.

If they work like most companies in the world, they have an internal exchange rate fixed in their ERP systems, so each month they have internal FX Gain/Loss depending on what they set their rate for that particular month, year, etc.

So much goes in to manufacturing and the price it is sold from.

For example...........does anyone know if Ducati bills their other entities in local currency or always in EUR?

and yes..........this is a topic I am very familiar with, but not sure how Ducati runs their business as I don't work for them.

The prices are negotiated and set per country by each importer. In our case Ducati North America. That is why we have the lowest Ducati prices in the world (by a long way - and people still complain!). North America is the largest Ducati market outside of Italy, which gives DNA the power to get prices of bikes, parts and apparel to where they are in our market. No joke, FAR below other countries prices!

Importation tax is set by the government.

Why is a Ducati so expensive in Europe?

They pay VAT. Not sure what it is now, but what.........18-23%?

just to inject a little caustic acid into the discussion:
the price also includes tariffs (all sorts of Gov taxes) and a few other "useless" tools used by the all knowing crowds to "even" out the imbalances - so they claim.
