the 40mm marzocchi are very undersprung with a very basic damping set up that is generally crap.  so yes, they are no good, but they always were.

I had the same forks on my M750, I put new springs in and it helped a good bit ~

I had the same forks on my 95 M900 and the forks in general are no good :'(. I machined up some spacers to give more tension and this improved them but in the end I found a set of adjustable Showers on eBay, sent from Netherlands including freight brand new for $700.

This made a huge improvement to the bike and highly recommend the swap.

this is the bike that sat for 13 years?

replace the oil, make sure you have the right oil and amount.

springs are so-so, upgrade.

lastly, find a set of adjustable marzys from an SS and find happiness..

fyi you might find some local help here:  www.ducatisti.co.uk .  lots of friendly folk there but it is general ducati, not specific to Monsters..  I lurk there cause i have a couple of euro spec bikes...

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.
