My 01 monster has about 1 1/8 in of fork sticking up through the triple. Anyone know if there are clip ons that I can mount above the triple without having to move the forks up or down? I tried a set of Drivens* but the clamp height was too large and went above the top of the fork legs.

Consider something like this?

http://www.speedymoto.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=08-0250BLK&Category_Code=TB

You can mount them under the triple, but they aren't going to break your back.  Triple take all of 2 minutes and a rubber mallet to get off.  Plus you can move them up and down under the triple to achieve desired height.  I have them on my S4R and love them.

Not my bike, but gives you an idea...

These are also pretty neat, as you don't need to remove the triple to install!

i think you may be hard pressed to find something that narrow.
apex mfg bars seem to have a nice, narrow mounting bracket, but even that is about 1.75"...

i have woodcrafts with a 2.5" rise under my triple, works like a charm.

I actually just ordered a set from apex. The person I talked to said the clamp height is 1.25" for the standard clip ons, 1.125" for the risers. I thought I saw a pic of someone's monster here that had the clip ons mounted above the triple.

That's pretty old - a lot of those clipons aren't readily available any more.

For the OP, I've got Woodcraft zero rise clipons above the triple  They're not quite as wide as your driven ones.  I had to drop the front end a few millimetres to make it work, but I reckon that's improved the handling of the bike.

How did the Apex clip-ons work out?

I have a '01 900S and I'm in the similar situation.  I have about 17mm above the top triple and only about 20mm below that is machined to 50mm diameter and then it starts to radius up to a larger diameter.  I am not sure if this is because I have an "S" version with the adjustable forks or what.  It seems like either way (above or below the triple) I will need to slide the forks up or down.  I'm leaning toward the Motowheels http://motowheels.com/i-6922767-mw-billet-clip-ons-w-risers-monster.html due to the narrow (19mm) mounting bracket and sliding my forks up 2-3mm and mounting them above the triple.  The Woodcraft and other riser clip-ons have wide brackets that would make me slide my fork tubes down significantly to make enough space below the triple and I don't think I want to change the geometry in that direction.

They work well for me. The clamp height is 1.125 inches or 28.6mm and I mount them above the triple. The bike handles fine. They have the same clamp height as the clip-ons I had before which were silver Ducabike clip-ons like these:
