Anyone else get extremely tired at work? I'm sure it's my poor eating habits and my lack of physical exercise but it's difficult to fix that with the hours they're having me run.

It's fairly easy to eat right, and there is always time for some type of workout.  [thumbsup]
Woohoohoohoo! Two personal records! For breath holding and number of sharks shot in the face.

Do the Dew baby.  Can be cut with Sprite/7-Up type sodas if the bang is too much from a whole can.  Otherwise- stop, drop (your work) and roam.  Especially if there's some eye candy around to spike some primitive hormones, sharpening your mind and muscles if only temporarily.  Works for Code Monkey anyhow.

Could just be his warm, simple, secret IZ_ heart though.

Another quick pick-me-up is a brisk walk in fresh air...just go around your building if you are short on time.

When I get tired at work I bust out my cot and pillow and go to sleep. No...really. We used to have crew rooms to crash in but now there's not enough to go around. I don't sleep alot because I'm a night owl and dedicated third shifter but I bet I've made 10 grand in my sleep this year!!!
I'm here to kick a*! and chew bubble gum...and I'm all out of bubble gum.

Eat a good breakfast with no meat, yes that includes  [bacon] ,meat takes a lot of energy to work itself out your system [thumbsup]

i do not have time for naps at work,
and honestly, i get pretty damned annoyed when i find people sleeping on the job.

on some job's it's ok, like your shift is really long and you're on break or something.

i have photo's of one of our photographers napping in the studio...
he even made himself a little bed. premeditated napping is not cool.

i used to work at a toys`r`us right after highschool.
our warehouse was a bunch of cages about 8' wide, 4' tall, and 12' deep -- stacked to the 20' roofline.
the matress for the kids beds were in a cage about 12' up. we always made sure there was enough room to fit a person in there.

i used to have this shift where i closed on a wednesday, and opened on thursday. i'd get off wednesday, get drunk w/ some friends down there and sleep in the cage of matress until my shift thursday. it was great.

that's different... you were using your workplace as an apartment, and were not on the "clock"  ;)

I try to use as many different muscles during the day as I can, ie using the stairs, taking the long way around, carrying/manipulating heavy items. I find engaging in relative conversation/confrontation stimulating. People have said a proper diet, I dig tuna as a snack, seems to stick with me for a while. Some other things I remind myself are 1) discomfort is temporary and 2) I'm only as tired, hungry, hot, or cold as I think I am. If shit sucks, I'll throw the "this sucks" breaker, bite down and focus on efficiently completing my tasks.

When the smokers get up to go outside for a smoke, go out too.  Take a walk.  It helps clear the head.

+1 on Drinking water.

Eat something (see above comments).  You'll get repeat nooners.  There'll be a line... ;D
