Falling asleep at work

Anyone else get extremely tired at work? I'm sure it's my poor eating habits and my lack of physical exercise but it's difficult to fix that with the hours they're having me run.

What do you guys do for pick-me-up at work? Java is out of the question; I can't stand the stuff. I can't drink many energy drinks either. The effects aren't as strong when I drink one a day and if I forget to eat something when I drink one I get really sick from the caffeine.

I eat a high protein diet with lots of carbs on days I know are going to be long.  Seems to keep me going pretty good ~

So... what does that translate into? Lots of meat?  [evil]  [bacon]

I choose stuff for breakfast that has lots of protein, some cereals are better than others.  I eat Kashi Protein+ cereal.  A banana a couple hours later.  Something with meat for lunch accompanied with pasta or rice.  More protein but less carbs at supper.

Well, you know your problem. You eat like crap and don't exercise. It is easy to get in that habit, but hard to get out of. Just start doing it, and force yourself to do it. You'll feel 100x better.

I make sure to eat breakfast, and try to eat a good lunch, no fast food.
I get up, walk around, and try to stay active. Drink a lot of water. Fruits are always good for snacks.
If I start to get real sleeply I'll spend 5 minutes doing crunches or pushups, or something like that.

I may look stupid doing it, but it looks better than standing in line for unemployment.

If you don't like energy drinks try 5 hour energy.  That shit will wake you up and it doesn't have any caffine.

Actually, there is a disclaimer on the bottle, website, and commercials...it contains caffeine equivilant to one cup of premium coffee.

As has been stated, force yourself to eat better. It's the same as eating crap...once it becomes habit, it won't be difficult at all.

And simply getting up and walking around will help with the sleepiness. I walk about a mile a day around work. I also change our backup tapes around the same time each day which is usually about the time I start hitting a wall.

I don't touch energy drinks. I keep a couple of beef jerkys in my desk for a snack pick-me-up. That and my fruit bowl on my desk comes in handy regularly.

Fruit is good for a pick-me-up.  An apple is better at waking up a sleepy person than a cup of coffee ~

You know what is bogus about 5 hour energy and their commercials?  As someone mentioned, It does have caffeine.  And they make a big deal of not having any guarana in their product.  Guess what the active ingredient in the natural product of guarana is, It is Caffeine.  the other guys (puts nose up in air) uses guarana.  We use caffeine.

Got to love marketing.

Sure, you'll be tired right after, but take a short nap after your 3 minute "lunch" and you'll be good to go all afternoon  [thumbsup]

ha - took enough posts for someone to get to this.  Certainly gets the blood flowing.  [evil]

(of course a 3 minute performance will probably not get you too many repeat nooners)

Exercise at your desk.
When I worked a desk job, I kept a pair of hand weights in a desk drawer. Twice a day, I'd pull them out and do reps at my desk. It's amazing how many different exercises you can do sitting at a desk chair.
