just came back from testing a 2008 Speed triple. It is such a smooth ride! I loved it! It is so easy to twist the throttle and so responsive to small inputs. It has plenty of torque and pulls hard. I rode it on the interstate and really opened it up. It wanted to go and go and go.. It feels very stable at high speeds. Around in city traffic it was so well mannered. Again it is just so easy to ride. The seat is really hard though. It sounds terrible.. well.. it is no ducati... and it had the stock exhaust.. still.. it will never satisfy my ears. Compared to my S4R..it is pretty close in the way it pulls.. but the S4R pulls harder and is stronger right away in all gear at all rpms... the triple had to be revved up to get the same muscle.. although it has it. The S4R is  like a wild horse compared to the triple. Brakes were good too.. brembos on the front and Nisin on the back.. go figure. Like someone said.. it does feel more japanese.. and this is because of the way the engine makes the ride so smooth... characteristic of the inline type I guess.
Even though I loved how smooth and powerful the triple was . I would not choose it over the monster.  I would love to have it as a second bike though ! Cool bike... just not a Ducati.
