Wow guys defending with swords amaze me, mainly because I have no experience with them.
I would think it's much more "personal" defending yourself with a sword, you have to be close.
I'll stick with my 1911 and tactical training, remember don't look at the intruder, concentrate
on that front site. You'll never miss.

the "home defense axe" would prob split wood, but if i pulled that on someone it would be just to scare them.

I've got of these too.  A nice, hand made, two foot half moon balanced with a 7inch spike.  I'm all about feeling it,  shooting someone is too impersonal.

mine looks more like a traditional nordic/swedish axe

i like the idea of swinging it witht eh blade away and not having a puncture wound. either that or you could hold it in a wide grip and use the backside to bash.....
