From the horses mouth: the stock pipe 'rule' is set (and enforced) only by the group who is renting the track. To their knowledge, Keigewin's is the only organization that publishes this 'rule.' Otherwise, the staff @ Mazda Raceway only enforce the 92db restriction.

Blam. I'm good to go.

BTW - that db killer really shut my bike up. Amazing.

Man that is weird shit. I would hate to truck my ass all the way down there and have it go the other way....Let us know if it goes ok. Or not.

I'm not totally useless, I can be used as a bad example!

What's the point of the noise restriction?

they obviously don't make the GP bikes adhere to this policy.
My understanding is they only have so many days per year when they can be as loud as the GP and AMA bikes are, so the track day people get stifled.

Quick update. Trip to Laguna ended up getting cancelled, although I had already installed the DB killer. I brought the bike up to SOW for a weekend and realized that the DB killer was also killing my HPs. My normally unwieldy 1K was rather tame, so I knew something was up.

I was cornerworking for CSS, and during my session I went to pull the DB killer out, but it was a stuck and my session was over so I returned to my corner, problem was that I had removed my pipe and didn't have time to reinstall.  I rode back to the corner with a straight pipe (sounded like a GP bike, Laguna would NOT have approved) and waited for my next session. I rode back down to the pits (still without a pipe) only to realize that my bike was sputtering and bucking like a bronco...power on, power off, power on, power off.

After some trouble shooting, I suspected that riding without the pipe caused my spark plugs to fail (could also explain the lack of power earlier in the day, plugs were probably on their last legs).

I popped out the DB killer, popped on the pipe, popped in new plugs (all in about 30 minutes) and headed back out for another session.

The bike was back to its scary self. Clicked off some of the best laps of my life.
