I don't have safety wire pliers. I will eventually buy them. Like, perhaps this summer. In the meantime, I need to pull my brake pads for some light scuffing, and when I put them back, and replace the retaining pin, I'd like it all to stay put. Currently, they are retained with a bit o' safety wire. The little e-clips or cotter pins have been lost over the years apparently.

Since the old stuff is a bit funky, I was contemplating throwing a few dollars at some shiny new titanium retaining pins. ProBolt and RaceBolts both advertise such a pin for brembo brakes. What size cotter pin would I use? (It looks like this would be easiest, and I see McMaster-Carr carries stainless ones, which I would prefer for corrosion purposes)

If it matters, I'm rocking the single pin goldlines (40mm mounts) and I have dark brown hair.

Really, nobody knows the size of the pin, where I can get spares cheap, or at least the diameter of standard safety wire?

ATO:

I'm not near where I can help, but here is some info on the safety wire:

http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/safetywire.php

Can't recall which I use, but it is probably the 032 one.

I drill my safetywire holes using 1/16" bit.   But do not know about the clip diameter.

Maybe Yoyodine has the clips?

I called Brembo and had them ship me out some cheap, when I noticed a retaining clip missing.  Give it a shot for the correct part.

I use 32/1000's safety wire on mine, and you  can just go with a set of pliers and wire cutters (dykes) and it'll be much safer than the crappy clips..

I guess there are good and bad mods; you'll find the good ones here Wink
