I tore my bike down (to the engine and took the clutch right out) with basic tools, no impact wrench and no beer.

you don't have to take the engine out of the bike to change the clutch, fyi. [laugh]

He Man

you dont need power tools.

$100 bucks in quality tools is enough to get most of hte bike apart. A socket sex, a Hex set, and a few special large size sockets.

I have an electric impact wrench from Harbor Freight.  I use it to remove the rear wheel nuts and the clutch nut.  I've had it for a few years, used it dozens of times (on my bikes and others) and it was less than $20.

That ATV jack is pretty much useless.  The only time I recall using mine was on a buddy's behemoth cruiser.

What you really need:

A good torque wrench
A good set of sockets/ratchets (metric for the bike, metric and standard if you want to work on other things)
A full set of end wrenches
A set of combo box ends (the ones with different sizes on each end)
set of pliers
Set of allens (ball end are fine so long as they are on the long end of the wrench.  All the actual tightening should be done with a regular end)
A good vice with a set of soft and hard jaws
workbench and tool box
specialty tools as you run into the need for em
beer

That list will cover you to work on nearly everything you ever run into.  Everything else is just icing on the cake
