Many years ago they used to store wine in large vats.  They then place a skim coat of olive oil over it to preserve the wine.  The grease on the fries and the meat probably helps preserve them.

I just don't get the bread.  I'll go with the crouton theory.

The people who have primarily eaten this shit their entire lives (happy meals, other McDonald's and fast food shit, and all these foods with chemical preservatives in them) aren't the ones who are old and burdening society right now.  All those folks were born in 1910's to 1940's or so.  So maybe McDonald's will start doing its part when my generation starts dieing off at a ripe old age of 50.  Hell, McDonald's is the least of my worries considering what I put in my body and do to it.

hey I was born in 1951 and raised on White Castle and Wetsons....canned corned beef and tomato soup when overseas....I am sure my heart muscle looks like a well marbled cut of beef....

Correct. This is apparently the first generation in the US where life expectancy is expected to go down.
