Here's the link: http://www.feingold.org/enews/HappyMeal.html

So, this lady bought a Happy Meal and sat it on the shelf behind her desk for a year, expecting it to rot and/or stink. It didn't, and a year later is essentially odorless and looks almost identical.

First reaction is WTF does McD's put in their food to allow this. I'm never eating there again! [I rarely eat there anyway as their food is absolute shit  [puke]]

On second thought though, I think this is normal. The food dried out since it wasn't raw (the meat), and wasn't in plastic or anything. No moisture = no mold or rot. Think crutons and dried/cured meats. No bugs because the meat was cooked.

What's the consensus here?  [coffee] Normal response, or McD's is slowly pickling us all with their chemicalized food.  ;D

Oldfisti

I don't find it unusual that it dried out.

I do find it interesting that they say their burger patties are made with 100% pure ground beef.

That implies with and not of... meaning there must be other ingredients as well.

What is the % of beef vs. other fillers/mystery meat/chemicals etc?

humans also don't completely rot under the right environmental conditions

Oh yeah if you ever noticed the buns are made with a noticeable amount of sugar.

Try a piece sometime when your palate is clear.

Or whatever is even cheaper than that.

Good point.

They prolly like the HFCS due to the fact that the human body will not properly send the "I'm full" signal to the brain while consuming it.

I saw on a PBS documentary about GM foods, that everything used sold at MCD's contains corn by-products - the fries, soft drinks, cardboard cups, plastic straws, paper bags, ketchup, meat, fry oil, etc...

It isn't all that surprising.  I feel like I have found french fries that were YEARS old in cars.  It must have been a nugget happy meal (I think I may have found a really old nugget under my car seat once too  :-X )

There is no way that a cooked burger wouldn't rot or the bun wouldn't grow mold

And the cups, straws, and bags are remarkably delicious also.

Super Size Me, the movie, did a little experiment with Mcd's and real food.
It is left in glass jars for a few months and NEVER changes [puke]

"Supersize Me" was a good movie, and McDonald's food is indeed poison, but the narrator in the clip above is an idiot.  The McDonald's fries had very little water content when they were placed in the container, whereas the considerably larger "regular restaurant" fries were certainly more moist.  The difference is the amount of water which is needed by the bacteria, and that remaining water evaporates away from the smaller McDonald's fries faster than from the larger, thicker regular restaurant fries.
