By "pre-sales" do you mean bikes ordered before the US launch, or bikes on which customers have put deposits prior to their arrival at the dealer even if it was at or after the launch?

Dealers had the opportunity to place an initial requested order back in Oct of last year before the bike was unveiled.  Then we were offered a chance to increase our initial order in Jan I believe.  It wasn't until April that we were asked to register the actual customer names and orders online.   It was explained that we would see Touring and S first, May-June.  A month or so later for standards.  In our case we actually received customer orders that closely matched our initial request of model mix.   Most likely Ducati NA ordered the model mix that the dealers requested on the first go around.  Then when the bikes started arriving they attempted to fill orders from on hand inventory to match the registered online orders as closely as supplies would allow.  By months end we should be able to fill almost 60% of our orders out of current DNA inventory.

Ducati NA intends to fill the deposited orders placed by dealers through their online registration process first.  Next they will begin to supply dealers requests for bikes that are not pre sold.  Time line wise people who choose to wait until June to place an order in the system could realistically see it taking 45-60 days before the order can be filled.

Gotcha. Thanks for a very helpful and detailed explanation.

I feel better about my chances of getting some riding in before winter hits in New Hampshire.
