Cool, thx for the info.  Are you still running the stock gearing.  Mine is a pregnant dog to work with in town.  Not really what it is made for though.  But, with kids, work, and school, my fun rides are pretty much the long way to and from work.  Bike is kind of pulling double duty.

I had my monster out yesterday. All of a sudden, everything on it seems to be in slow motion.

Still running the stock gearing on mine but it seems all Ducs are geared a little tall. Probably why so many Monster owners drop a tooth on the countershaft sprocket. In town by the time I shift into 2nd or 3rd on the Ducatis I would already be in 5th or 6th on my Suzuki or Honda SBKs! ;D

Nice, I used to think 999s were ugly but recently I've changed my mind. I'm wondering if those are Boomtubes you have on your Monster though, love the look of those. I'm guessing they are custom as usually the tips are pointed more perpendicular to the bike.

I call them boomtublets.  Mark made the tips with his baffling and mated them to my DP headers.  He does killer work.  Very mean sound to them.

Same here.  I roll by two small town police stations between my ride from work to school.  The monster will cruise by in 3rd, somewhat tame.  Not the 999, its either 1st gear and kind of screaming, or 2nd gear and cutting out.  I think I am going to try one tooth smaller up front.  Like the thing needs any more incentive to raise the front wheel.

I have a 14 on the front of my 996.

Does it help as much with the 25-35mph puttin' around as it does for the monster?

It helps. I don't ride it on the street so I can't honestly say it will solve your in town issue.
