i know its not a Duc but since my motorcycle mech. skills is limited, and Ive learned alot from all of you wonderful people, i thought maybe this would be the best place for advice and ideas.

so... i have a 92 shadow that was my daily driver b4 i got my 848. it ran great untill one day when i was getting on the freeway, under full throttle, it back fired. after that the  bike started sputtering and or missing and wouldnt go over 45 mph or 3k rpm (there is no rpm guage so i am guess here). i turned around and limped it home. the bike starts fine and idles ok (from what i can tell) but when revved to about 3k rpm it starts sputtering and missing. ive disconnected each spark plug wire one at a time to see if there was a change in performance, and there was. so i am assuming that all 4 plugs are firing. i also drained all the gas and put in new, didnt help at all. i am thinking maybe a electical problem or perhaps a fuel issue. ill be doing a compression test later just cause i like doing them but am doubtful that will yield any answers. any other ideas would be greatly appriciated.

thanks for your time and input.
it is so much easier to get forgiveness then it will ever be to get permission.

forgot to mention it has 73k miles on it and is in stock trim.

+1 on your compression test. It may yield answers, though not necessarily answers that you will like.

I would change your fuel filter and maybe investigate the pump.  Sounds like it's running out of fuel.

Is it possible a worn timing chain jumped a tooth?

10. Bad decisions make good stories.

bad timeing might be culprit, but i am hoping for something a bit easier. thursday i am planning on doing the compression test, and putting in a new fuel filter. i dont want to start tearing into the motor without exploring all other options.

... if this was a 300ZX i would be done fixing it already 8-(

If you can  fix a 300zx you got the skills to fix a shadow. Good luck brother let us know what you find from the comp test
