open clutch woes

i see the elefant at the top (his feet at least) it always makes me a ltitle sad for some reason.

Sounds like the hub nut got way loose.

That lets the pressure plate get far enough out to hit the cover.

Not uncommon, and occasionally _terminally_ expensive if you let it go and it flogs out the splines. You don't want to be paying typical shop rates to replace a crankshaft.

If you've got the skills/confidence to open the clutch up - go in there and check it asap. Otherwise have a shop do it for you.
