Hello newbie to the motorcycle world I recently changed the oil in my 2005 620 and now the clutch is slipping. I used automotive mobil 1 15w50 and I have been riding in Washington state in our 40-50 degree weather. I did change my handle bars and levers this winter as well. Should I try the oil change first and if so what to use? The bike only has 7k on it I'm the second owner and I bought it last July not sure what was used before

Thanks

Mike

It seems that the automotive oil may have soething to do with the clutch slippage. Try changing the oil, using moto specific oil, and see if the slipping persists.

Do you have some freeplay at your lever?

If the lever is mounted and/or adjusted wrong, it can cause slipping.

Both these.  You want .1-.15 mm. free play.

Many non-motorcycle oils have friction modifiers, so NG for wet clutches. If you want to stick with Mobil 1, use 4T 10W40 Racing or 20W50 V-Twin which do not.

That may well be the source of your troubles. As Curmudgeon noted, there's moto specific oils for a reason. If you've got a dry clutch you could get away with the auto oil swap. But not so much on a wet clutch

Well I have changed the oil two times and continue to run into slipping intermittently. So do I know need to remove the clutch and clean and dry each disc?
