hello folks,

a couple days ago i was out on The Crest and went to pass someone and felt the engine losing power as i tried to get on the throttle. as i passed him i tried to honk my horn and it didnt honk but i felt the engine slightly lose power again. i immediately detoured and headed straight home. got on the 210 and made it halfway before the engine completely die.

got it towed home, charged the battery and put a volt meter on the battery terminals with the engine running. reading was 12.5v and as i started giving it gas the meter started moving below 12.5v and would continue reading less voltage as i gave it more gas.

would this be an alternator problem or the rectifier?

thanks

Could be either, but it is probably the regulator/rectifier or the connection where the stator wires connect to the regulator.  Anyway, easier than doing a lot of typing,  http://www.electrosport.com/technical-resources/diagnosis-center/fault-finding-guide
