You guys are making this too complicated. Hold the bike upright with your right hand on the throttle, bend down and look. No levels, no wood shims, ect...

Hey everyone, okay I am diving more into my oil in the airbox problem and there is oil all inside it.  Does anyone know how oil would get in the air box?  the oil way I can think is because of a worn ring but I really do not want to take apart the whole engine if I don't have to.  I can see where the oil is going but I have no idea how it is getting in there.  If anyone has any ideas that would be great.  I know how to check the oil level and I have drained it all.

If you were overfilled with oil, that would explain oil in the airbox.

AFAIK you can get oil in the airbox trough the crankcase breather valve, or trough the throttle body. The hose from the breather valve should be in the left side rear corner of the airbox. See if there is oil coming out of it.

Ya can't get oil in the airbox if ya remove the breather hose.

Just sayin'.

What will that effect on the performance level of the bike?

Well if you overfill the oil with no breather tube, there'll be a pretty profound effect on the performance, I should think.

I'd be concerned about handling issues as well.

Oil in the airbox just leaks out slowly and does no harm...in most circumstances.

+1

So, its neither a huge issue nor an emergency.

Too much oil at last fill, which you've since drained.  When you refill don't add the full amount specified in the service manual... add less and check the level in the sight glass... topping up if required to no more than the upper indication mark.  Run motor, stop motor, let stand for a minute or so and recheck.

Job done.  Problem solved.
