new to me bike, has had a well Loved life prior and at some point had rearsets on it.  I am wondering if the left side foot control assembly is wrong.

the kickstand return spring hits the shift lever and in the stowed position the kickstand itself keeps me from putting my foot where i want it for pulling the lever up.

sorry for the IZ_ pics, the bike just won't sit still...

spring hitting shifter

no room for foot

here's a picture from underneath, looking at the kickstand pivot.  i wonder if the bracket that attaches to the engine is incorrect, thus splaying the kickstand out too far?

wider view.  note that i have flipped the shift shaft lever (the splined one) around so that it places the rod attached to it more or less parallel with the centerline of the bike (first 3 pictures are current, and show flipped lever)

thanks all!

Check to see if anything is bent right there.  The shifter looks like it's got a wiggle to it.  I also notice your kick stand sticks out further from the rearset when folded up.

10. Bad decisions make good stories.

The foot rests are pretty much all the same.

Pretty sure that mounting bracket for the side stand is the culprit.

It doesn't look right at all.

there's definitely a wiggle in the shifter lever, but just eyeballing it if said wiggle weren't there the situation would be worse.

a bent part is what i keep coming back to but.. that's a pretty big chunk of metal to bend without collateral damage.

thanks for the feedback though, it's nice to have a second opinion to the voices in my head.

perhaps from the wrong bike?

this monster had rearsets on it in a previous life, before i got custody of it.  it's quite possible somene installed the wrong kickstand bracket.

It could be the stand itself that's bent, but the ground end of the stand needs to be closer to the rear wheel any way you cut it.

The only thing that should contact your foot is perhaps the spring for the stand.

The shift lever is no virgin either. It's also bent.

That is DEFINITELY the wrong sidestand bracket. Or super duper bent.... or something. IIRC my sidestand tucked under the bike in an almost parallel line to the bike. That one.... not so much. I suggest trolling fleabay for a different one.
