I agree, but, I also have replaced all my half rings (broken) every time. So I try to get closer to .000 to account for the break-in of the new ones. If I were ++$$$ I would go the MBP colet route, but that's neither here nor there. I may go that route whenever it is valve guide / engine re-paint time.
2008 S2R1000 black and white, mostly stock ;-)
Marving header, Velocity stacks, Pod filters, Flashed ECU to DP map, Polished valve covers and cam covers, SSR reverse shifter and inspection cover, Aelle adjustable pegs, Windscreen and cowl removal, Many plastic bits removed, Cut beer tray

At my first adjustment at 7500 on my 1100 evo, I replaced the half rings with MBP. In nearly 50000 miles on my s2r, I never had an issue with them.

To give you an idea, I ran 10000 on my adjustment. So from 7500 to 18500. The closers did change a little (. 002" to .004 on the exhaust and only. 001ish beyond spec on the intakes.

I expect the bike was still breaking in. I wouldnt be surprised if this allows me to go fully to 12k for adjustments on the next iteration (in sync with a belt change). Less downtime means more fun.
