I am a total newbie when it comes to Monsters. I've been riding Ducati Superbikes for about 10 years but have never pruchased a Monster... until now.

I just purchased a brand new 2007 S4R and want to replace the stock mirrors. I've been researching for a couple days now and want to know what you all would recommend. I realize that the most popular choice is to go with "bar end" mirrors but would like to know about any other options. I'm not totally sold on the bar end method but is there another method?

Thanks.

I'm in the same situation as you.  I've got a 696 on order and I'm waiting to order mirrors until I see all the options.  I like some of the bar ends, but I'm sure just when I order something, I'll see something much better.  then again, that always happens.

rizoma and the few DP mirrors are pretty much your non-barend options.

if you go rizoma, don't forget to buy the mounting kits, and that one of the mirrors is LH thread (all  the hardware you'll need is in those kits)

I you are going to go barend I would recomend CRG hindsight and if you are going to standard the Rizomas are the most sexy. There are some knockoff brands of the CRGs that they sell on ebay for a fraction of the price.

I prefer the look of "regular" mirrors rather than bar ends, but unfortnately anything bolted to the stock mirror mounts seem to vibrate so bad that having mirrors is almost useless. Bar ends seem to work great with no vibration and great vision.

I bought a pair of CRG knockoffs from D2Moto off Amazon and one mirror fell off while riding.  I emailed D2 and they sent me a replacement pair, with only a pic of the mirror housing for their verification (I guess they wanted to be sure that I didn't crash the thing).

The replacement pair is working great.  For about $30, I cannot recommend them enough.
